No—not as of October 8, 2026. Minecraft does not have confirmed PlayStation VR2 support. Sony says PS VR2 cannot play games made for the original PlayStation VR, and the US PlayStation Store listing for Minecraft says its original PS VR support ended after March 2025. The native PS5 version does not change that: its announcement did not include VR support.
Why PS VR2 does not run Minecraft’s old PS VR mode
PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2 are separate platforms, not interchangeable headset generations. Sony’s PS VR2 compatibility guidance says, “PS VR2 can’t play PS VR content.” It also identifies PS VR2 as a PS5 accessory, not a PS4 headset. So the original PS4 Minecraft VR feature cannot be carried over simply by connecting a PS VR2 to a PS5.

Sony advises checking a game’s PlayStation Store compatibility information before buying. Look for explicit VR support on the listing; a PS5 release or an older VR feature is not evidence that a game supports PS VR2.
What happened to Minecraft VR on PlayStation?
Original PS VR on PS4
Mojang announced Minecraft support for the original PlayStation VR on PS4 on September 22, 2020, as a free feature for PS4 Minecraft owners. That implementation offered two modes: Immersive Mode, which placed players inside the Minecraft world, and Living Room Mode, which displayed the game in 2D on a virtual screen in a Minecraft-themed room. These were features of the PS4 version with the original PS VR—not PS VR2 modes.

Support ended after March 2025
The US PlayStation Store listing for Minecraft says PlayStation VR will no longer be supported after March 2025. That notice concerns the original PS VR feature. Regional Store listings may use different wording, so check the listing for your country for its current details.
Does Minecraft’s PS5 version include VR?
No VR support was announced with the native PS5 release. Mojang announced that version for October 22, 2024, describing a target experience of 4K resolution at 60 fps, greater render distance, and Bedrock cross-play. The announcement is about the standard PS5 game, not PS VR2 compatibility.

Mojang said existing PS4 owners could claim the native PS5 version at no extra cost through the PlayStation Store process. For a disc copy, the Store listing says the disc is required to access the game. Neither route adds VR support.
