If BattlEye is preventing the game from starting, troubleshoot the specific error instead of removing the anti-cheat component.
Why Siege requires BattlEye
Ubisoft describes BattlEye as an anti-cheat system intended to protect its games and players from cheating and other violations of the Code of Conduct. It is automatically installed with Ubisoft games that require it and is active only while the game is running. Ubisoft’s BattlEye support article says that uninstalling the component prevents a required game from launching. Its Rainbow Six Siege BattlEye FAQ answers the question specifically: Siege cannot be played after BattlEye is removed.
What to do if BattlEye stops Siege from launching
Start with general checks, then follow the instructions for the error you actually see. Ubisoft’s Siege FAQ recommends these initial steps:
- Verify the game files using the option available for your game installation.
- Install the latest version of the game launcher.
- Update your drivers.
- Use Ubisoft’s troubleshooting entry for the specific error, such as a BattlEye service installation or startup failure, security software blocking BattlEye files, or a driver initialization error.
For BattlEye service or driver problems, consult the BattlEye vendor FAQ as well. The Siege FAQ includes some legacy troubleshooting examples, so check current official support guidance for your exact error rather than assuming an older step applies. No single repair is guaranteed to resolve every launch problem.
