How does the Wii version play?
Nintendo describes using the Wii Remote to steer the boat, cast, set the hook and reel in fish. Its listing names Wii Remote and Wii Remote Plus as compatible controllers. Nintendo also describes tournament, arcade challenge and time-trial modes, boat exploration, more than 20 fish species and more than 500,000 acres of water; the fish and water figures are publisher promotional descriptions. How does the Xbox 360 version play?
The Xbox 360 manual distinguishes boat mode from fishing mode. It explains steering and accelerating the boat, switching modes, launching or reeling the line, and moving the rod with the controller sticks. It also describes a tournament season and arcade challenges. Is it worth playing?
Reception was mixed: in a December 6, 2006 review, GameSpot’s Brian Ekberg criticized the Wii Remote controls as unresponsive and the gameplay as monotonous. Can you play it on a newer console today?
