No—not at present. Squadron 42 does not have a confirmed, supported VR mode or campaign setup. More importantly, RSI says the game is still in development and is not available to download, so there is no released build on which to verify headset compatibility. Star Citizen’s experimental VR notes apply to that separate project and do not establish VR support for the Squadron 42 campaign.

Do Star Citizen’s VR updates apply to Squadron 42?
No. The two projects share technology and the same publisher, but an experimental feature documented for Star Citizen is not a compatibility announcement for Squadron 42.
Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.2 patch notes describe experimental VR changes, including:
- a VR zoom feature for interaction zoom;
- VR support for ship precision targeting; and
- VR use with first-person weapon scopes.

What PC requirements are published for Squadron 42?

That means the following are currently unconfirmed:
- whether the campaign will support VR at launch or in a later update;
- which headsets, tracking systems, or controllers will be supported;
- whether a headset will require a particular runtime;
- whether VR will be available throughout the campaign or only in selected modes; and
- the graphics settings, resolution targets, refresh-rate targets, and performance requirements needed for comfortable play.
A headset that works with Star Citizen’s experimental VR features should not be assumed to work with Squadron 42. Shared technology does not replace a campaign-specific announcement or compatibility test.
What to do if a connected headset causes RSI software problems
RSI does document one headset-related troubleshooting warning. Its unsupported applications, peripherals, and overlays article says that VR or AR systems left connected while not in use can conflict with RSI software. This is a troubleshooting measure, not a way to turn on Squadron 42 VR.

If an RSI launcher or game installation is behaving unexpectedly while a headset is attached, use this sequence:
- Shut down the RSI software. Exit the launcher and any running RSI game process.
- Disconnect the VR or AR device. Unplug the headset and, where applicable, its link cable, external tracking hardware, or related USB devices.
- Restart the computer. A restart clears software and driver state that may remain after the headset is disconnected.
- Retry without the headset attached. Launch the RSI software and test the original action again.
- Reconnect only after the test. If the problem returns when the peripheral is connected, keep it detached while investigating software, driver, overlay, or peripheral conflicts.
These steps can help isolate a peripheral conflict. They do not provide a supported VR mode, campaign injector, or compatibility workaround for Squadron 42. RSI’s full warning is in Unsupported Applications, Peripherals and Overlays.

If your main goal is Squadron 42, buying hardware now involves an unresolved compatibility risk. A headset may be useful for other games, and Star Citizen’s experimental VR features are a separate consideration, but neither fact guarantees that the same hardware will support the Squadron 42 campaign.
How to monitor for a real Squadron 42 VR announcement
Look for information that answers all of the practical questions a setup requires, rather than a general statement that VR is being explored. A meaningful announcement would normally identify the supported game build, headset or runtime requirements, input method, graphics targets, and installation or launch steps.
RSI’s Development Hub provides project updates, but the material cited here does not resolve Squadron 42’s VR compatibility or publish a campaign setup guide. When RSI does announce support, use that campaign-specific documentation instead of extrapolating from Star Citizen patch notes.
