No. Super Mario games are Nintendo releases, and Nintendo does not list Xbox 360 as a platform for its featured Super Mario games. Xbox backward compatibility applies to selected Xbox games; it does not make Nintendo games playable on Xbox 360.
Why Super Mario isn’t available on Xbox 360
Nintendo’s official Super Mario history traces the series across Nintendo systems and mobile. Xbox 360 is not among the platforms listed. That means there is no official Super Mario release for the console.

The console’s backward-compatibility feature does not change that. Xbox describes compatibility for selected original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games on supported later Xbox consoles; it is a way to play eligible Xbox titles across generations, not a way to add Nintendo games to the Xbox 360 library. See Xbox’s backward-compatibility information.
What you need to play a current Super Mario game
If you want to play Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you need a Nintendo Switch. Nintendo lists the game as a Switch release dated October 20, 2023. It does not run on Xbox 360 hardware.
#1 Best Overall
- Xbox 360: No official Super Mario game.
- Nintendo Switch: Super Mario Bros. Wonder is available for this platform, according to Nintendo.
Does Xbox backward compatibility help?
No. Backward compatibility covers selected games from Xbox console generations, subject to Xbox’s compatibility support. It does not extend to Nintendo’s Super Mario titles: those are not Xbox games, and Xbox’s compatibility page does not list them as playable Xbox 360 releases.
