Sometimes—but there is no single answer for every Ubisoft game. A specific title may support cross-play, cross-progression, both, or neither for a given pair of platforms. Check the game’s current Ubisoft support information before assuming friends can join across platforms or that your progress will carry over.
What “playing across platforms” can mean
Ubisoft uses two distinct features that are easy to confuse:

- Cross-play lets you play with friends who use another platform.
- Cross-progression lets you access game progression on another platform linked to your Ubisoft account, provided you own the game there.
A game can offer one feature without the other. Ubisoft says a Ubisoft account is required for cross-play and cross-progression, and that availability varies by game and platform. Ubisoft’s cross-play and cross-progression guidance is the general rule—not a promise that every title supports either feature.

There is no reliable portfolio-wide answer such as “all Ubisoft games support cross-play.” Look up the specific game and the platforms you want to connect, then check cross-play and cross-progression separately. A feature may be supported on some platforms but not others, and support can change as a game is updated.

Ubisoft’s examples illustrate why the distinction matters. Its Rainbow Six Siege support article describes cross-play on supported platforms and automatic cross-progression; accessing a saved game elsewhere requires the same linked Ubisoft account. By contrast, a For Honor cross-play FAQ from 2022 said progression was isolated by platform at that point. A later For Honor cross-progression FAQ describes synchronized progression and content on its listed participating platforms. These are examples for those games, not a current compatibility list for Ubisoft’s whole catalog.
Does progress carry over, and do you need to buy the game again?
Cross-progression is not the same as cross-buy. Ubisoft describes accessing progress on a linked platform where you own the game; linking accounts does not, by itself, grant a copy on another platform. You may need to buy the game more than once, but the exact ownership arrangement depends on the title and platforms. Check the game’s current terms before purchasing a second copy.

How to link a platform account
- Sign in to your Ubisoft account and open the Account Information page.
- Open Linked accounts, choose the platform, select Link, and follow the prompts.
- Alternatively, launch a game and sign in to Ubisoft Connect when prompted. Some platform integrations have their own linking instructions.
Take care before unlinking. Ubisoft warns that linking or unlinking can have lasting effects on games and subscriptions. If you unlink an account, Ubisoft says only the same platform account that was originally connected can be relinked without support intervention; connecting a different platform account requires contacting Ubisoft Support.
What Ubisoft+ does—and does not—guarantee
Ubisoft+ does not automatically make every Ubisoft game playable on every device. Ubisoft’s subscription terms say that plans and benefits vary by plan, accessible platform, and purchase channel. Cross-play and cross-progression may be offered for certain games and third-party platforms, and accessing a game on another platform may involve an additional fee. Check the terms for your plan, game, and platform before relying on a subscription for cross-platform access.

Questions to verify before you play or buy
- Does this exact game support cross-play between the platforms my group uses?
- Does it support cross-progression between those same platforms?
- Which Ubisoft account must be linked, and are there limits on the number of platform accounts?
- Do I need a separate game copy or subscription access on the second platform?
- Does the support information apply to my game version and platform family?
