Fatshark announced one as a planned feature in 2022, but that announcement was not evidence it had shipped. A later Fatshark status quoted in a forum thread said the mode was not ready for release. Private matches are separate and have been described as requiring at least two players.
What Fatshark announced about solo play
In its November 18, 2022 Community Update #1, Fatshark wrote: “We’ve been working on an option to play exclusively in Solo Mode, where you will be hosting locally your own instance with bots.” The wording described work in progress, not a released feature.
Fatshark also said that hosting the AI and other game systems locally would increase performance cost. That was the developer’s explanation of the planned approach, not a measured performance result.
What the later status says—and what it does not
A July 15, 2026 Fatshark forum thread quotes a later Community Update #5 passage saying solo mode technically could work, but was not in a state Fatshark wanted to release. The thread is a secondary source for that quotation; the underlying update was not independently retrieved.

- Loyalist Pack: Purge heresy in style with these 4 unique class outfits, 8 weapon skin patterns, one set of headgear as well as an Ogryn body tattoo.
- Mortis Veteran Portrait Frame: A cosmetic portrait frame used to pay tribute to the fallen defenders of Tertium Hive.
- Caducades Backpack: A cosmetic backpack for human characters. Scavenged from the fallen troops of Cadia, this backpack has been repurposed to serve those still alive and fighting.
- 2500 Aquilas (premium currency)
This is the latest status found here, not confirmation of the state of every later game build. Fatshark’s official Darktide site listed a September 29, 2026 “Depths of the Damned” update in its latest-news area, but the retrieved site information did not announce that solo mode with bots had shipped. The absence of an announcement there does not rule out a later patch or change.
Private matches are not a solo workaround
Fatshark’s 2022 update described private games for groups of two to four friends. The later Community Update #5 passage quoted in the forum thread says private play requires at least two players. Those are multiplayer arrangements, not a confirmed way for one person to start a private mission with bot teammates.

Do not assume that selecting a private lobby, using a matchmaking trick, or installing a mod provides official or reliable solo access. The available sources do not verify those as supported workarounds.

Fatshark’s official site lists Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. That platform listing does not establish that solo mode is available on any of them, nor does it prove feature parity.
