You can’t race against friends in KartRider: Drift now: the game’s service has ended. When it was live, players could add friends across platforms after linking accounts, form parties, and match together or against one another. Those historical features are not a way to play today.
Why you can’t race with friends now
Nexon America announced that Global, Console, and Mobile service would permanently shut down on February 26, 2025, at 11:00 PM UTC. Its notice said South Korean and Taiwanese PC service would remain available at that time. Nexon America’s February 25, 2025 service-closure notice.

A later message dated June 16, 2025, from KartRider: Drift director Jaeyun Cho announced that Nexon and Nitro Studio had decided to terminate the service. The message is available in a repost, rather than an accessible official page: the June 2025 repost of Cho’s message. In it, Cho wrote: “After careful consideration, we have concluded that it would be difficult to provide a satisfactory service in the long term and have made the difficult decision to terminate the service for KartRider: Drift.”
How friend racing worked when the game was live
A December 2, 2021 Q&A from the KartRider: Drift Team described a broad party flow: link accounts, add friends from other platforms, create a party, then match together or against one another. Players in a party could also communicate through voice chat. These are beta-era feature details, not current menu instructions; the Q&A does not specify exact button presses or menu labels. How the service changed before closure
On August 27, 2024, Nexon announced a service split: South Korea and Taiwan would retain PC service, while players elsewhere and Console and Mobile players could continue matchmaking and join custom races until early 2025. As a result, old advice about parties or custom races may explain how multiplayer worked, but it does not provide a current way to launch a race with friends.
