It ran from July 17 to July 24, 2025, and as of October 8, 2026, Epic is not offering Platinum Edition as a free claim. If you claimed it during the promotion, it should be in your Epic library; if you missed the window, that giveaway cannot be claimed retroactively.
Is Civilization 6 free on Epic Games now?
No. Epic’s current Civilization VI listing is for the Windows base game and does not show a current free Platinum Edition offer. Its displayed sale end date, September 17, 2026, has also passed as of October 8, 2026, so it should not be treated as a live price or promotion.
The Platinum Edition giveaway was reported to run July 17–24, 2025, during Epic’s Summer Sale. That historical window is reported by PC Gamer; it is not an active claim period.
Can you claim the expired giveaway later?
No. Epic Games Support says, “Free promotions have a limited duration.” Its guidance explains that a free game must be claimed during the indicated period to be added to your library. After the window closes, you cannot use that promotion to add the game retroactively. Epic recommends watching for future free games and special offers.

What did Civilization VI: Platinum Edition include?
Nintendo’s official Platinum Edition listing describes the digital Nintendo Switch edition as the base game, six add-on content packs, and the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions. The six packs are:
- Poland
- Vikings
- Australia
- Persia and Macedon
- Nubia
- Khmer and Indonesia
Nintendo’s listing explicitly excludes the New Frontier Pass. Because that product page is for Switch, it establishes the named bundle’s contents there; it should not be mistaken for the Epic Windows store listing.

Is Platinum Edition the same as Anthology?
No. Platinum Edition does not include every later release: in particular, it excludes the New Frontier Pass. Epic’s Leader Pass page says that the Leader Pass is included at no extra charge for owners of Civilization VI Anthology on Epic. That is an Anthology-specific inclusion, not a reason to assume the Platinum Edition contains the Leader Pass or all DLC.

- Check your Epic library: If you completed the free claim while it was available, look in your library for the game.
- Watch Epic’s offers: A later promotion may make the game available again, but there is no current free claim established here.
- Choose the right platform and edition: The expired offer was an Epic PC promotion. Nintendo’s Platinum Edition page is for a digital Switch product; a Switch copy is a separate platform purchase, not a way to redeem the Epic giveaway.
Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy game in which players guide a civilization through history by exploring, researching technology, conducting diplomacy, and waging war, with several possible victory conditions. The official Civilization VI site lists its release as October 2016.
