The current try-before-buy option is a separate free demo, released September 30, 2026, but it is offline-only and does not recreate the beta’s online matches.
Can you still play the open beta?
No. The first open beta ran from February 20 through February 24, 2025 (Pacific Standard Time); SNK later held a second test from March 26, 2025, at 10 p.m. through March 31 at 1 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time). Both events have ended, and SNK described the first beta build as playable only during its designated test period. It is not currently available to download and play as a beta.

What the first beta offered
The first test supported PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It required an internet connection, but did not require PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate. Its online modes were Ranked Match, Casual Match, and Room Match; an offline Tutorial was also included. Eight characters were playable. SNK said save data from the beta could not be transferred to the retail game. SNK’s first open-beta announcement

How to try the game now: download the separate demo
SNK announced a free, single-player demo on September 30, 2026, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Nintendo Switch 2 was scheduled to receive the demo in late October 2026, but SNK’s announcement did not give an exact date. Check the relevant platform store or a newer SNK notice for current availability. SNK’s demo announcement
The demo is offline-only, so it does not provide the beta’s online Ranked, Casual, or Room matches. It includes Arcade, Classic Versus, Training, Tutorial, Trial, and Color Edit modes, with Rock, Terry, Hotaru, Preecha, Vox, and Mai available. SNK notes that some content is restricted compared with the full game. Demo save data and Color Edit data cannot be transferred to the retail version.
