How to request a refund through Steam Support
- Go to Steam Support and sign in.
- Open the purchase help flow and select the game you want refunded.
- Choose the option to request a refund and briefly explain your circumstances. Be accurate about your playtime and why you are asking; explaining an issue is practical context, not a guarantee that Steam will grant an exception.
- Submit the request and check its status through Steam Support.

Which playtime counts toward the two-hour limit?
Steam counts playtime from online, offline, and shared-library use toward the threshold. So offline sessions or play through another person’s shared library do not necessarily leave you with more refund-eligible time. [Steam Support refund FAQ]
Check the purchase type and any local rights
The two-week and two-hour terms describe Steam’s standard offer for games and software; other transaction types—including DLC, in-game purchases, subscriptions, Steam Wallet funds, bundles, gifts, preorders, hardware, and purchases from third parties—can have different rules. Can requesting a refund hurt your account?
Steam says it may stop offering refunds if it believes a customer is abusing the system. It gives one example it does not consider abuse: buying a game just before a sale, requesting a refund, and then buying it again at the sale price. [Steam Refunds policy]
