How to replace a DualSense Edge stick module safely
Follow Sony’s instructions for the controller. In brief:
- Turn off the controller and disconnect its USB cable. Confirm that the player indicator is off.
- Slide the RELEASE latch to remove the front cover.
- Touch nearby grounded metal to discharge static before handling the module. Avoid touching the module or controller connectors.
- Remove and replace the stick module according to the manual, then make sure the front cover is secured before turning the controller on.

What Sony’s licensing information can—and can’t—tell you

Don’t mistake calibration statistics for a counterfeit test
The independent DualShock Calibration GUI project says DualSense Edge module calibration is experimental. Its clone-detection function currently applies only to DualShock 4, so it should not be treated as a detector for counterfeit Edge modules. What to check before buying a replacement
Appearance alone cannot establish authenticity, and the evidence available does not support a claim that a particular aftermarket module is equivalent to Sony’s. Compare concrete details rather than relying on a seller’s use of words such as “original” or “compatible”:
- Whether the seller identifies the item as a Sony product or an aftermarket alternative.
- Whether the listing explicitly names DualSense Edge compatibility.
- Whether the listing provides clear information about physical and connector fit.
- Whether it explains supported calibration or firmware-update processes.
- What warranty and return terms apply, and who the seller is.
