No. Microsoft does not support moving game saves or progress from one personal Microsoft account to another. Its support guidance says personal accounts cannot be linked, merged, or combined, and game progress, gamertags, purchases, and account balance cannot be transferred between them. Keep using the account that created the save, or start fresh on the second account. Microsoft Support’s account policy is explicit: “It’s not possible to link, merge, or combine Microsoft personal accounts.”
What happens if you buy the game on the second account?
Repurchasing a game under another account does not bring the old account’s save or progress with it. The license and the save are separate: buying access on the new account does not change which account is associated with existing progress. Recent Microsoft Q&A moderator guidance likewise says there is no supported way to move Xbox saves between accounts, even if the game is bought again. See Microsoft Q&A guidance.
What you can do instead
Keep playing on the original account
If you still have access to the account that made the save, use it to continue that progress. Microsoft says personal accounts can be used side by side, but there is no merge operation that makes one account inherit another’s saves or purchases. Microsoft’s account-combination guidance covers what cannot be combined.
Use the same account on another device
If your goal is to play on a different Xbox or a compatible Windows device, sign in with the same account that created the save. Cloud synchronization and Xbox Play Anywhere can let a compatible game continue across devices under that identity. Microsoft says Play Anywhere progress is saved with the gamertag, so you can continue on another device after signing in. That is device continuity, not a transfer to a new account. Create a separate account and start new progress
A child or family member can use a separate account, but that account starts with its own game progress. Your existing save and purchases do not become theirs through a transfer. Accounts may be used side by side; Microsoft does not provide a way to merge them. Microsoft Support.
Why moving a save between consoles is different
Some legacy Xbox 360 instructions describe moving eligible profiles or saved games between storage devices. That concerns moving data between devices, not changing the Microsoft account that owns or created it. A USB drive, transfer cable, or legacy transfer kit should not be treated as a method for changing the account attached to a save. Xbox 360 support information.

For newer Xbox consoles, cloud saves can sync compatible games when you sign in to the same account. Exact behavior varies by game and device; not every title or generation supports the same migration or synchronization process. Some games have their own server-side accounts, cross-progression, or import and export features. Those are game-specific possibilities, not a general Xbox account-transfer option. Microsoft Q&A moderator guidance mentions a narrow, unofficial possibility involving Minecraft Dungeons character files when available on a Windows PC, while noting that it would not move the Xbox profile or all progress. Before attempting any file-based workaround, check the game developer’s official guidance for the exact title and platform. Do not assume that a method for one game changes the account association of other saves, purchases, or profile data.
