Yes, but not directly. The documented legacy route runs from a GBA cartridge through compatible Nintendo DS Pokémon games and services, then into Pokémon Bank and Pokémon HOME. It depends on hardware and apps that may be difficult or impossible to obtain now: Pokémon says Bank and Poké Transporter can no longer be newly downloaded, and Bank service is scheduled to end on February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC. Check Pokémon’s service notice before starting.
What is the route from a GBA game to Pokémon HOME?
There is no direct transfer from a Game Boy Advance cartridge to Pokémon HOME. The documented chain is:
GBA cartridge → Generation IV Nintendo DS game and Pal Park → Generation V game → Poké Transporter → Pokémon Bank → Pokémon HOME
Nintendo’s Platinum manual documents the first step: moving Pokémon from eligible GBA games into Pokémon Platinum on a Nintendo DS system with a GBA Game Pak slot. Nintendo’s Bank manual describes Poké Transporter moving Pokémon from Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 into Bank. Pokémon Support documents the final Bank-to-HOME move. The official sources cited here do not establish a menu-by-menu walkthrough for the Generation IV-to-V transfer, so this guide does not guess those menus or unlock requirements.

- This renewed game will not come with the original case or manual; cartridge only. It has been cleaned, tested, and is in nice condition.
What you need before you begin
- A compatible GBA Pokémon cartridge and a Nintendo DS system with a GBA Game Pak slot.
- A compatible Generation IV game. Nintendo’s cited instructions specifically cover Pokémon Platinum and the GBA games Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen.
- A Generation V game—Black, White, Black 2, or White 2—and access to Poké Transporter and Pokémon Bank.
- A Pokémon HOME account with the Premium Plan for the Bank-to-HOME transfer.
These are legacy games and services, not a newly downloadable route. Pokémon says Bank and Poké Transporter are no longer available for new download. If either app is missing from your systems, buying a DS or game cartridge by itself will not replace it. Pokémon Bank information
Move Pokémon from a GBA cartridge to Pokémon Platinum
Nintendo’s Pokémon Platinum Version Instruction Booklet describes migrating from Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen into Platinum. It requires the National Pokédex and a Nintendo DS system with a GBA Game Pak slot; migrated Pokémon arrive in Pal Park.

- This renewed game will not come with the original case or manual; cartridge only. It has been cleaned, tested, and is in nice condition.
- The game is an authentic copy and a new save battery has been installed!
- Meet the National Pokédex requirement in Pokémon Platinum.
- Insert the GBA Pokémon Game Pak into the DS system’s GBA slot, alongside the Platinum game, and use Platinum’s migration feature. Consult the game manual for its specific menu instructions.
- Go to Pal Park and catch the migrated Pokémon before attempting another group from that GBA Game Pak.
Important: migration is one-way. Nintendo warns, “Pokémon CANNOT be returned to the Game Boy Advance Game Pak.” The Platinum manual allows up to six Pokémon per Game Pak per 24 hours, and you must catch that group in Pal Park before migrating another. Pokémon holding Mail or knowing a hidden move cannot migrate. These requirements are specifically documented for Platinum; do not assume every Generation IV game uses identical menus or unlock details. Pokémon Platinum Version Instruction Booklet (PDF)
Continue through Generation V and Pokémon Bank
After Pal Park, the Pokémon must reach a Generation V game before Poké Transporter can send them to Bank. The broad bridge is Generation IV → Generation V → Poké Transporter → Bank. The exact Generation IV-to-V operation and its unlock conditions are not detailed in the official sources cited here, so check the manual for the relevant game rather than relying on an assumed menu sequence.

Nintendo identifies Poké Transporter as the app for moving Pokémon from Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 into Pokémon Bank. Both Bank and Poké Transporter are no longer available for new download, which makes existing access essential. Pokémon Bank Instruction Booklet (PDF)
Move Pokémon from Bank to Pokémon HOME
Pokémon HOME’s Premium Plan is required. With a 3DS available, Pokémon Support documents this process:
Rank #4
- Game has been tested, refurbished, and cleaned! Includes game cartridge only.
- Open Pokémon Bank and choose the boxes to move.
- Start the Move process in Pokémon HOME to display a Moving Key.
- Enter that key in Bank within three minutes of its display.
The move cannot be undone: once a Pokémon leaves Bank for HOME, it cannot be moved back to Bank. Pokémon HOME: Move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME · Pokémon Support: Pokémon Bank service update
If you do not have a 3DS available
Pokémon Support also documents a transfer initiated through HOME without a 3DS. The Nintendo Network ID used with Bank must be linked to the Nintendo Account used with HOME. Choose the no-3DS transfer option and confirm; this moves every Pokémon in Bank together, rather than letting you select boxes.

Does this route still make sense for you?
| Your situation | What it means |
|---|---|
| You already have the compatible games and Bank/Transporter installed | The legacy chain may be possible. Account for the one-way GBA migration and the Bank service deadline. |
| You are missing Bank or Poké Transporter | Pokémon says these apps cannot be newly downloaded. The official sources cited here do not identify a new-download replacement. |
| You have Bank but no 3DS at hand | The HOME-only option may work if the Bank Nintendo Network ID and HOME Nintendo Account are linked; it transfers all Bank Pokémon at once. |
Bank’s announced end date
Pokémon Support says Pokémon Bank service is scheduled to end on February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC. After service ends, transfers from Bank to HOME will no longer be possible. This is a stated deadline, not a guarantee that every stage of the legacy chain will work until that moment; check the official notice for any update before making plans.
