Yes. The Razer Tartarus V2 Pro works for basic input without Synapse using its factory-default profile, or with a profile already saved to the keypad. You need Razer Synapse to create custom key mappings and configure broader device settings.
What works when you plug it in without Synapse?
Razer describes its products as plug-and-play devices. With the Tartarus V2 Pro, that means you can connect it and use its default input profile; it does not mean that every feature is available or customizable without software. The model-specific support page is for the Tartarus V2 Pro, model RZ07-0552, not the older Tartarus V2, model RZ07-02270.

The factory profile
Razer says the factory-default profile uses a 2.0 mm actuation point with Rapid Trigger off. That profile cannot be modified. Razer describes it as typically suited to typing and non-gaming tasks.

A profile configured earlier
The keypad has onboard storage for up to eight profiles. Razer identifies a “Last-used Razer Synapse Profile” that remembers the latest keypad settings applied in Synapse and appears as a white profile light. This lets a saved configuration remain available on the device; it does not let you create or edit custom mappings without Synapse.

What requires Razer Synapse?
Razer directs users to install the latest Razer Synapse to customize the Tartarus V2 Pro’s keys. Use it to remap keys, set up profiles for different games, and configure device settings. Configure the changes in Synapse first, then rely on the onboard profile storage when using the keypad without the software.
Do not assume that macros or lighting will behave independently of Synapse. Razer says onboard macro support varies by product, and its guidance says lighting is managed through Synapse. The available model guidance does not establish that every macro or lighting setting can be created, changed, or run without Synapse.

Which controls can you adjust on the keypad?
Some controls have onboard options. Razer documents quick adjustment for actuation and Rapid Trigger, and says Snap Tap is off by default and can be toggled with Fn + Left Shift. These controls do not make the factory-default profile customizable; Razer specifically says that profile cannot be modified.

No. Razer’s Synapse 2.0 FAQ says cloud-related features for Synapse 2.0 ended effective October 28, 2025, while existing local profiles and macros remain stored locally. That notice concerns Synapse 2.0 cloud features. The Tartarus V2 Pro’s product guidance separately points users to the latest Synapse to customize its keys, so the cloud notice should not be read as a way to configure this keypad without Synapse.
