Not necessarily. An unlisted video is accessible to anyone with its link, but that setting does not grant permission to rebroadcast it or confirm that YouTube supports using existing unlisted uploads as the source of a continuous 24/7 stream. YouTube’s published help pages explain livestream eligibility and encoder streaming, but do not specifically verify this workflow. If you own the lectures, check that your intended setup complies with YouTube’s current terms and requirements before relying on it; if the videos contain someone else’s material, obtain the necessary rights first.
What unlisted means—and what it does not mean
Unlisted is a visibility setting, not a rebroadcast license or a privacy guarantee. Anyone with an unlisted video’s URL can watch it and share the link onward; viewers do not need a Google Account. Unlisted videos generally do not appear in YouTube search or a channel’s Videos tab, although they may appear in search if added to a public playlist. YouTube’s visibility guide explains the distinctions.
By comparison, private videos are restricted to the creator and viewers selected by the creator, while public videos are broadly available and may surface in search and recommendations. None of these visibility settings, by itself, establishes permission to use a video in a livestream.
Does YouTube confirm this 24/7 source workflow?
YouTube documents livestreaming through mobile, webcam, and encoder setups, but its published guidance does not specifically confirm whether you can take existing unlisted video uploads and loop or relay them as the source of a continuous 24/7 broadcast. That is an important gap: the fact that a video is unlisted does not establish that YouTube approves a particular relay method, nor does the available guidance establish that it prohibits one.

Before building a channel around this arrangement, verify that your chosen method meets YouTube’s current terms and operational requirements. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have all necessary rights for Live Content on Google services, including relevant music licensing rights, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

If you made and control the lectures
Confirm that you control the rights to everything included in the videos, not just the lecture recording itself. Slides, images, music, clips, and other incorporated material can have separate rights. Then verify the relay method and channel setup against YouTube’s current requirements. Owning the lecture does not automatically settle rights in material used within it.

If the lectures belong to someone else
Get the necessary authorization for livestreaming before broadcasting. An unlisted link only makes the upload accessible to link-holders; it does not show that the uploader authorized public rebroadcast or that you have the required rights.
Meet YouTube’s livestream eligibility requirements
YouTube says a channel needs to be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days to livestream. Its setup guidance covers mobile, webcam, and encoder routes. For a lecture broadcast, an encoder is the documented category to investigate if you need a computer-based production workflow; YouTube describes software encoders as an option and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, but does not make hardware mandatory. These general livestream instructions do not, on their own, validate taking unlisted uploads and relaying them continuously. Confirm the behavior of your specific method before depending on it.
Plan for the 12-hour archive limit
A continuous broadcast and a complete saved archive are separate concerns. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams that exceed 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a complete recording of a 24/7 lecture stream, keep a local recording rather than assuming the YouTube archive will preserve the entire broadcast. Permission and monetization are different questions
Having the rights needed to stream does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies say monetized content should be original and authentic. Reused content without significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value may be ineligible, even where the uploader has permission. Consider monetization separately from whether you have permission to broadcast.
