What kind of solitaire does it use?

Cortinas explained the idea this way: “We saw an opportunity to bring together two timeless gaming experiences, Candy Crush Saga and Solitaire, both of which offer a satisfying balance of relaxation and challenge.” That is King’s stated design rationale, not independent evidence about player response.
Xbox Wire’s launch feature said King planned to add levels and adjust the experience using player feedback, alongside seasonal events, challenges, and rewards. That description records the launch-era plan; it does not confirm which features remain active now.

Was Candy Crush Solitaire released under Microsoft?
Yes, in the chronological sense: Microsoft announced on October 13, 2023, that Activision Blizzard King had joined Team Xbox. Candy Crush Solitaire followed on February 6, 2025.
