It supports solo play as well as co-op and versus modes for up to four players. For couch co-op fans, its appeal is the mix of kitchen coordination with fighting and moving through levels; the dark humor and violence are a key part of the package, not a cosmetic extra.
What kind of game is Cannibal Cuisine?
Developed and published by Rocket Vulture, Cannibal Cuisine released on May 20, 2020. Its loop combines collecting fruit and vegetables, fighting tourists for human-meat ingredients, preparing dishes, and serving them to the fictional god Hoochooboo. Steam describes a campaign across an island, challenge activities, and special powers including dashing, healing totems, and fire breathing. The result is an arcade cooking game where movement and combat add pressure alongside the usual demands of coordinating orders.

The game draws on the co-op cooking genre, but it is not simply a kitchen-only exercise: players also have to traverse levels and fight. The available evidence does not establish that it is as polished or approachable as other games in that genre, so expect a different emphasis rather than a guaranteed substitute for a familiar favorite.
Is Cannibal Cuisine good for couch co-op?
It is a strong fit to consider if your group enjoys busy shared-screen games and is happy to coordinate both cooking and combat. Nintendo lists one to four players on a single system, as well as online play for one to four players. With friends, the combination of gathering ingredients, handling enemies, and preparing dishes gives players several kinds of tasks to juggle.
#1 Best Overall
- A chilling journey into the dark mind: Explore the Hanwell Mental Institute and uncover its dark past.
- Experience a mind-bending original storyline as recurring hallucinations blur the line between memory and reality.
- Investigate a detailed, decrepit asylum through point-and-click adventure gameplay.
- Solve evocative challenges that reward wit and observation.
- Enter an engrossing atmosphere with a memorable soundtrack inspired by 1980s horror films and John Carpenter.
That broader mix is also the main caveat: the pressure is not limited to kitchen timing. Your group needs to be comfortable with combat, traversal, and the game’s cartoon depiction of cannibalism. If you want a cooking game without violence or dark jokes, this is unlikely to be the right match.
Can you play Cannibal Cuisine solo?
Yes. Steam lists solo play alongside co-op and PvP, so you do not need a group to start the game. The available store descriptions establish solo availability but do not provide enough detail to compare the solo experience’s difficulty or pacing with multiplayer.

How many players can play, and does it have online multiplayer?
Steam says multiplayer supports up to four chefs. Nintendo’s Switch listing specifies one to four players both on one system and online. That makes the Switch edition suitable for local play on one console or online sessions; the reviewed listings do not establish matching player limits across every other platform.
For Switch couch play, an additional compatible controller is an optional practical consideration, not a requirement stated by Nintendo. Its listing confirms single-system multiplayer but does not identify a specific controller model or say that extra hardware is mandatory.

How much content is there?
Campaign and level descriptions vary by listing, so their figures should not be treated as interchangeable counts of all current activities.

| Steam store listing | Describes a full campaign across an island, challenge activities, and five regular cooking levels plus a challenge level in the free “Curse of the Scarab King” update. |
| Nintendo Switch listing | Describes 20+ levels. |
| Rocket Vulture launch announcement, May 20, 2020 | Describes a 24-stage story campaign. |
The Scarab King expansion is free content according to Steam’s product description and Rocket Vulture’s announcements. These are descriptions tied to the respective store and release materials, not an independent count of every activity in the game today.

- Overcome varied enemies and obstacles, like Zombie Guys, Skelesaurus, Ukiki, and Monty Mole as you seek out hidden collectables; ESRB Content: Mild Cartoon Violence; Genre: Action, Platformer

Does it still have launch-era control issues?
Rocket Vulture posted a controls and movement update on May 23, 2020, saying it had responded to feedback about controls, movement, and difficulty. The changes listed included thumbstick dead-zone and sensitivity adjustments, slower running speed, ledge recovery changes, and fixes for dash movement and connectivity. That history is useful context if you encounter early criticism, but it does not establish the exact condition of every platform’s current build.

Yes. Nintendo lists a digital Switch edition with TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes. Nintendo also cautions that compatibility and play experience may differ on Switch Lite and that additional accessories may be required, without naming an accessory specifically for this game.

- ODDS AND EVENS: A brand-new, explosive & ludicrous story adventure with an enhanced combat system: Both heroes now have signature abilities and unique power ups.
Rocket Vulture’s announcements report later Xbox and PlayStation releases and say the Scarab King expansion was included. The official sources reviewed here confirm Steam and Nintendo Switch listings directly; the console-release information comes from the developer’s announcement archive. Nintendo’s listing describes its edition as digital, so it does not establish a physical cartridge release.
How violent is it?
The premise involves fighting tourists and preparing human-meat dishes, presented with cartoon humor. Ratings differ by region and platform: Nintendo’s US listing shows the ESRB descriptors “Blood, Violence,” while Steam shows PEGI “Strong Violence.” These are regional rating labels, not identical ratings.
What do reviews say?
Steam’s store page republishes excerpts from several critics. Gaming Trend reviewer Ron Burke calls it “a great little spin on the cooking genre, and it’s a blast with friends,” with the store page showing a score of 8. Matt Fowler of ScreenRant describes it as drawing on the co-op cooking staple Overcooked while giving the genre a bloody twist. Lara Jackson of Gamebyte praises the level design, music, and sound, with the Steam page showing a score of 7.
