The Canyon Layer has 80 Banandium Gems across three sub-layers: SL300, SL301, and SL302. Most can be collected on your first visit, but some require clearing Canyon’s main mission and returning; one is available only after the credits. Use the sub-layer routes below to find the gems, including hidden rooms, challenge rewards, and the post-game collectible.
Where are all the Banandium Gems in the Canyon Layer?
Nintendo Life’s Canyon guide lists 60 gems in SL300, 19 in SL301, and one in SL302, for 80 in total. Nintendo’s official terminology for DK’s familiar golden bananas is “Banandium Gems.” They can be hidden in terrain or awarded for completing Ruin challenges. Collecting them grants Skill Points, which can be used to improve health or power and learn skills. See Nintendo’s game overview for more on the collectible mechanics.

How to approach the Canyon gem hunt
- Check ceilings, walls, floors, and nearby structures: several Canyon gems are concealed in rooms or terrain rather than sitting in the open.
- Pay attention to challenge entrances and NPCs. Some rewards come from Ruins or tasks instead of ordinary exploration.
- If a gem or task is unavailable, continue the main Canyon mission and return later; the guide notes that some finds require that progress.
- Leave the SL302 helmet task until after the credits, when the required gear and Glamtone interaction are available.
