Kitfox has announced that Caves of Qud is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 as a free upgrade for Switch 1 owners, alongside a limited physical edition from Lost in Cult. The announcement does not give a digital release date or describe Switch 2-specific improvements, so those details remain unconfirmed.
What has Kitfox announced?
Kitfox’s announcement, reproduced in a Reddit post, says Caves of Qud is coming to Switch 2 as a free upgrade for Switch 1 owners. It also announces a limited physical edition from Lost in Cult.
The announcement does not explain how owners will claim the upgrade, which purchase regions qualify, whether saves will transfer, or when the upgrade will be available. Those terms should not be assumed from Nintendo’s general upgrade guidance.
When does the Switch 2 version come out?
No release date for the dedicated Switch 2 version is stated in the announcement. Nintendo’s US store listing gives February 16, 2026 as the release date for the existing Nintendo Switch software; that date is not a Switch 2 edition release date.
