cclnet.dll is an application file, not a standard Windows component. If Windows says it is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair or reinstall the PreSonus program that installed it instead of downloading the DLL separately.
The file is commonly associated with PreSonus Studio One, older Studio One installations, Universal Control, and related PreSonus audio software. The correct replacement must come from the installer for the affected program because the DLL may need matching companion files and dependencies.

Before you repair anything
Write down the exact error and the application named in its title bar. Common messages include:
- “The program can’t start because cclnet.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because cclnet.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading cclnet.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “cclnet.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
Also note whether the failure affects Studio One, Universal Control, a hardware utility, or an older PreSonus application. Do not assume that every PreSonus program uses the same installer or supports the same hardware.

Public file records identify cclnet.dll as part of the Cross-platform Network Framework. The commonly listed build is 64-bit version 1.0.17.54569, approximately 0.66 MB, but this information is not a reason to search for that file independently. The installer must select the compatible build.
1. Repair or reinstall the affected PreSonus program
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
This is the most likely fix after an interrupted update, failed uninstall, disk cleanup, or damaged installation.
Try Windows repair first
- Right-click Start and select Installed apps.
- Find Studio One, Universal Control, or the PreSonus application named by the error.
- Select the three dots beside it.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows and open the application again.
If there is no Repair button, or the error remains, reinstall the program.

Reinstall Studio One
- Uninstall Studio One from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Sign in to your registered PreSonus account.
- Open your products and select the Studio One product you own.
- Download the Windows installer supplied for that product.
- Run the installer as administrator. To do that, right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Complete the installation and restart Windows.
Use the installer for the product and version you need. Installing a newer release is not automatically appropriate for an older project, plug-in, or hardware setup.
Reinstall Universal Control
- Disconnect the PreSonus hardware.
- Uninstall Universal Control from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Download Universal Control from the current official PreSonus or Fender support page.
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Restart Windows before reconnecting the hardware.
- Connect the device and test the application.
Do not install multiple Universal Control versions at the same time. Older StudioLive AI, RM, or RML hardware may require an older Universal Control release, so check the hardware compatibility instructions in your registered vendor account before replacing a working legacy version.
A successful reinstall should restore cclnet.dll inside the application’s own installation directory. It should not require copying the file into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
2. Check whether antivirus removed the file
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Security software may quarantine a DLL during an update or after an application installation.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Open the event associated with
cclnet.dll. - Check the detected file path, action, and application that created it.
If the file came from an official Studio One or Universal Control installation, reinstalling the parent application is safer than restoring a loose file. Only restore or allow the item after checking its origin and detection details. Microsoft warns that allowing a malicious file can expose the computer.
If the file is removed again immediately after reinstalling:

- Update Windows Security definitions.
- Run a full scan from Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Full scan.
- If malware is suspected, run Microsoft Defender Offline scan from the same menu.
- Contact the antivirus vendor if the official installer is repeatedly detected.
A file that returns after every reinstall may indicate quarantine, a failed installation, permissions problems, disk errors, or malware rather than a defective DLL.
3. Repair the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A “specified module could not be found” message can appear even when cclnet.dll is present. Windows may be unable to load a dependency required by the DLL or by the PreSonus application.
PreSonus documents Visual C++ runtime-related missing-DLL problems in Studio One. The runtime is a dependency, not the source of cclnet.dll and not a replacement for it.
Repair installed packages
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Find each installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable entry.
- Select an entry and choose Change.
- Select Repair.
- Repeat for relevant entries.
- Restart Windows.
Install the correct Microsoft package
Use Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable download page. Choose the architecture that matches the application:
vc_redist.x64.exefor a 64-bit applicationvc_redist.x86.exefor a 32-bit applicationvc_redist.arm64.exefor an ARM64 application
Older applications may still need older Visual C++ packages, including versions that install side by side with newer releases. Do not uninstall older redistributables simply because a newer one is present.
A 64-bit Studio One or PreSonus utility cannot use a 32-bit replacement for cclnet.dll. Conversely, a 32-bit companion application may require the x86 runtime even on 64-bit Windows.

Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Do not place cclnet.dll manually in a Windows system folder. A 64-bit DLL appearing in System32 does not prove that it belongs there, and copying it into SysWOW64 can make troubleshooting harder.
To check the application path:
- Right-click the application shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Select Open File Location.
- Look for the application executable and its nearby framework files.
If cclnet.dll is present in that folder but the program still reports that it cannot load it, the problem may be a missing dependency, incompatible architecture, damaged file, or blocked access. Reinstall the parent program and repair Visual C++ before attempting anything else.
Do not replace the file with a “newer” build from a different application. DLL version numbers, companion files, exported functions, and architecture must match the program that loads them.

5. Check the PreSonus device and its driver
Time needed: 10–25 minutes
This step matters most when the error appears after connecting an audio interface or when Universal Control fails alongside a device problem.
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers as well.
- Look for the PreSonus device or a device with a warning icon.
- Right-click it and select Properties.
- Read the status under the General tab.
- On the Driver tab, select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers if Windows has a suitable driver.
- Restart Windows.
If the device remains broken, right-click it in Device Manager, choose Uninstall device, disconnect it, restart Windows, and reinstall the correct Universal Control package before reconnecting it. Do not remove unrelated audio devices.
Manually identifying outdated audio, USB, and chipset drivers can mean checking many hardware entries and matching each package to the exact system. 6. Repair broader Windows component corruption
Time needed: 15–45 minutes
Because cclnet.dll appears to be application-owned rather than a protected Windows file, SFC and DISM should not be your first repair. Use them when several unrelated applications fail, Windows reports other corrupted components, or the PreSonus reinstall does not complete correctly.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the PreSonus application.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. SFC repairs protected Windows system files; it does not normally restore an application-owned cclnet.dll.

Do not change Windows Features at random
You can check optional components through Settings > System > Optional features > More Windows features. Do not enable or disable random .NET Framework, legacy, or media components merely because cclnet.dll is missing. Change Windows Features only when the PreSonus documentation or a separate error specifically identifies a required component.
7. Use System Restore after a recent change
Time needed: 20–45 minutes
If the error began immediately after a driver installation, Windows change, or application update, System Restore may help.
- Open Start and search for Create a restore point.
- Open it.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the problem began.
- Review the affected programs and drivers.
- Confirm the restore.
System Restore rolls back system files, settings, and installed programs but normally does not remove personal files. It does not replace the need to reinstall Studio One or Universal Control if their installation is damaged.

Why the error happens
The usual causes are:

The message names cclnet.dll, but that does not prove the file itself is the only problem. “The specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency that Windows needs while loading it.
Why regsvr32 usually will not help
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. Runtime framework libraries do not necessarily expose that function.

Running commands such as the following against cclnet.dll is therefore generally irrelevant:
regsvr32 cclnet.dll
If Windows reports that the entry point is missing, it confirms that registration is not the appropriate repair. Restore the file through the parent application’s installer instead.

Downloading cclnet.dll from a random DLL site can introduce malware, an altered file, the wrong architecture, or a build that does not match the rest of the PreSonus installation. It can also leave the missing Visual C++ dependency, companion framework files, or antivirus problem unresolved.
The safe sources are your registered PreSonus account, the current official PreSonus or Fender download page, and Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable page. Do not copy the file into System32, SysWOW64, or another application folder by hand.
When to contact PreSonus support
Contact PreSonus support when:
- The official installer fails repeatedly.
- The application is an older release that is no longer available in your account.
- Universal Control compatibility depends on older StudioLive hardware.
- Antivirus continues removing a freshly installed file.
- The file exists in the correct folder but the application still cannot load it.
- The current installer does not support your Windows version or hardware.
Include the exact error text, Windows version, PreSonus product and version, installation path, whether the program is 32-bit or 64-bit, and any antivirus event. Do not send a replacement DLL downloaded from an unofficial source.
