cdn_og1101as.dll Missing: Trace and Repair the Owning App

cdn_og1101as.dll is a third-party application DLL, not a normal Windows system file. When cdn_og1101as.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair the program named in the error rather than downloading a replacement and copying it into System32.

The filename is associated with Rogue Wave’s Objective Grid, a native C++/MFC grid component that applications can use as a shared DLL. Objective Grid is now documented within Perforce Stingray Studio, but the exact modern application that installed this particular file is not publicly established.

Start with the executable named in the error

Read the complete error dialog before doing anything else. The application name or executable shown in the message is more useful than cdn_og1101as.dll.

Common messages include:

  • “The program can’t start because cdn_og1101as.dll is missing from your computer.”
  • “The specified module could not be found.”
  • “Error loading cdn_og1101as.dll.”
  • “The code execution cannot proceed because cdn_og1101as.dll was not found.”
  • “cdn_og1101as.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”

These messages can appear after an incomplete installation, failed update, antivirus quarantine, disk cleanup, or restoration of old application files.

Before repairing anything, note:

  1. The executable named in the dialog.
  2. The application’s installation folder.
  3. Whether the problem affects every Windows account.
  4. Whether the error began after an update, reinstall, cleanup, backup restore, or security scan.
  5. Whether the program is an older 32-bit application.

If the dialog appears only when one program starts, that program is the primary repair target.

Fix 1: Repair the application that needs the DLL

Time needed: 5–15 minutes

This is the safest and most likely solution. The original installer knows which build of Objective Grid, compiler runtime, and other files belong together.

Repair from Windows Settings

  1. Press Windows + I.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Select Installed apps.
  4. Find the application named in the error.
  5. Select the three-dot menu beside it.
  6. Choose Advanced options, if available.
  7. Select Repair.
  8. Start the application again.

Some desktop programs do not show Advanced options. For those:

  1. Press Windows + R.
  2. Type appwiz.cpl.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Select the affected application.
  5. Choose Repair, Change, or Modify.
  6. Follow the installer prompts.

A successful repair normally restores the DLL beside the application executable or in the vendor’s designated runtime folder. It should not require placing the file in a Windows system directory.

Reinstall from the original source

If Repair is unavailable or does not help:

  1. Back up the application’s documents, templates, profiles, and license information.
  2. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Select the affected application.
  4. Choose Uninstall.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Reinstall it using the original publisher’s installer, company software portal, engineering-tool package, or application launcher.
  7. Start the program before restoring custom files.

For older commercial software, use the installer supplied with the product or by your organization. Do not mix a DLL from one application with another Objective Grid application. Even similarly named files can belong to different builds or compiler configurations.

If reinstalling restores the program and the error disappears, the application installation was damaged or incomplete. If the same error returns immediately, continue with the runtime and security checks below.

Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file

Time needed: 5–10 minutes

Microsoft Defender or another antivirus product may have removed or quarantined an application DLL. Do not restore a file solely because its name matches the error.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Windows Security.
  3. Open it.
  4. Select Virus & threat protection.
  5. Select Protection history.
  6. Review entries from the time the application stopped working.
  7. Expand any entry associated with the application folder or DLL.
  8. Confirm that the file came from the legitimate application installation.

The safer correction is usually to reinstall the parent application from its official source. This replaces the file and lets the security product scan the complete installation.

If you are certain the detection is a false positive, follow the security product’s documented allow or restore process, then run a full scan. Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined threat can cause Defender to detect it again unless the item is explicitly allowed. If the file came from an unknown download, leave it quarantined and remove it.

Fix 3: Install the required Visual C++ runtime

Time needed: 5–15 minutes

A message saying “specified module could not be found” does not always mean that cdn_og1101as.dll itself is absent. Windows may be unable to load a dependency required by that DLL.

Objective Grid applications can depend on native compiler and MFC runtime libraries. The publicly indexed copy of cdn_og1101as.dll is reported as 32-bit, so a 32-bit application generally needs the x86 Visual C++ Redistributable even when Windows itself is 64-bit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use Microsoft’s official supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.

For a 32-bit application, install the x86 package. Microsoft’s direct download is vc_redist.x86.exe. If the application is 64-bit, use the x64 package.

Then:

  1. Close the affected application.
  2. Download the architecture required by the application.
  3. Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
  4. Accept the license terms.
  5. Choose Install or Repair.
  6. Restart Windows.
  7. Test the application.

Older applications may require an older Visual C++ package in addition to the current one. Do not uninstall existing runtime packages merely to install another. If the application vendor supplied a runtime installer, use that package or its instructions.

If the application still fails, reinstall the application after installing the runtime. The application installer may deploy additional MFC or native libraries that the standalone runtime cannot provide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Fix 4: Check the DLL’s location and architecture

Time needed: 5–10 minutes

The file should normally be installed with the application, not manually copied into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.

To inspect the expected folder:

  1. Right-click the application shortcut.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Open the Shortcut tab.
  4. Select Open File Location.
  5. Look for cdn_og1101as.dll beside the executable or in a vendor-named subfolder.

If the file exists but the program still fails, it may be corrupted, blocked, the wrong architecture, or unable to load one of its dependencies.

Right-click the file, select Properties, and check:

  • The General tab for an Unblock option.
  • The Details tab for available file information.
  • The Digital Signatures tab, if present.

Do not overwrite an existing copy with a downloaded file. Preserve the original path and use the application installer to restore the correct build.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A 32-bit application cannot be repaired reliably with an arbitrary 64-bit replacement. Mixing Objective Grid builds can cause “not designed to run on Windows,” entry-point errors, or 0xc000007b.

Fix 5: Test another Windows account

Time needed: 10–15 minutes

If only one Windows profile is affected, a damaged per-user configuration may be involved.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Accounts.
  3. Select Other users.
  4. Choose Add account.
  5. Create a temporary local account.
  6. Sign out and sign in to that account.
  7. Start the affected application.

If the program works there, the installation may be intact. Repair or reset the application’s per-user settings, and contact the application vendor if you need to preserve the original profile. If every user receives the same error, focus on the application installation, runtime, quarantine history, and Windows components.

Fix 6: Update or reinstall related drivers

Time needed: 10–30 minutes

A grid-control DLL is not normally a graphics driver, but an old application can also fail after a display, chipset, printer, or other device-driver change. Update drivers only when the timing or the application vendor points to a driver problem.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Right-click Start.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters, System devices, or Printers.
  4. Right-click the device.
  5. Select Update driver.
  6. Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  7. Restart Windows.
  8. Test the application.

If the problem began immediately after a driver update:

  1. Open the device’s Properties.
  2. Select the Driver tab.
  3. Choose Roll Back Driver, if available.
  4. Restart Windows.

Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the work of hunting through many device entries; its free scan shows what it identifies, while driver installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when that program owns the DLL.

Avoid replacing drivers merely because cdn_og1101as.dll is missing. A driver change is not a substitute for restoring the parent application.

Fix 7: Repair Windows components only if other programs also fail

Time needed: 15–30 minutes

cdn_og1101as.dll is not identified as a Windows-protected system DLL. Therefore, DISM and System File Checker are less likely to solve an isolated application error. Use them when several unrelated programs fail or Windows reports broader corruption.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Open Start, type Command Prompt, right-click it, and select Run as administrator. Run these commands separately:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Wait for it to finish, then run:

sfc /scannow

Restart Windows after both commands complete. Microsoft documents DISM image repair and SFC for repairing Windows components and protected system files.

Success means DISM completes without an unrepaired error and SFC reports that it repaired or found no integrity violations. If the application still fails, return to its own Repair or reinstall process rather than repeatedly running SFC.

Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process of checking system problems less repetitive; its free scan shows what it identifies, while repair is handled by the full version. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling the specific application that supplied this DLL.

Fix 8: Use System Restore after a known system change

Time needed: 20–40 minutes

Use this only when the error began immediately after a driver installation, cleanup operation, update, or other identifiable change.

  1. Press Windows + R.
  2. Type rstrui.exe.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Select an appropriate restore point.
  5. Review the affected programs.
  6. Start the restore.

System Restore rolls back system files, registry settings, drivers, and installed programs while preserving personal files. It does not replace a damaged application installer permanently, so reinstall the affected program afterward if necessary.

Do not use regsvr32 for this DLL

Do not run:

regsvr32 cdn_og1101as.dll

regsvr32 is intended for self-registering COM or ActiveX DLLs. A native Objective Grid runtime library is normally loaded by its application and is not repaired by registry registration. The command may produce another module or entry-point error.

Also avoid:

  • Copying the file into System32 or SysWOW64.
  • Downloading a replacement from a random DLL site.
  • Using registry cleaners or automatic DLL repair tools.
  • Overwriting an existing file without recording its source and version.
  • Installing a 64-bit DLL into a 32-bit application.
  • Deleting shared Windows folders during a clean reinstall.

Random DLL downloads can contain malware, use the wrong architecture, belong to a different application build, or fail because the real problem is a missing dependency. The safe sources are the affected application’s official installer, your organization’s software portal, or Microsoft’s official runtime packages.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

FAQ

Is cdn_og1101as.dll a Windows file?

There is no evidence that it ships with Windows or belongs in System32 or SysWOW64. It is associated with third-party Objective Grid software used by applications.

Which program installed it?

The exact parent application is not publicly established. Identify the executable named in the error, inspect its installation directory, and use that program’s Repair or reinstall option.

Is the file safe?

The filename alone does not establish safety. A legitimate copy should come from the application’s original installer. Treat an unexplained copy or a file restored from an unknown download as untrusted.

Should I download cdn_og1101as.dll?

No. A replacement may have the wrong build or architecture and may leave a missing dependency unresolved. Restore it through the application’s official installer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do I need the x86 Visual C++ Redistributable?

Possibly. The publicly reported copy is 32-bit, and a 32-bit application generally needs the x86 runtime on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Install it when the application’s documentation or reinstall process indicates a runtime dependency.

Why does Windows say “specified module could not be found” when the file is present?

The named DLL may be present while one of its dependencies is missing, blocked, corrupted, or incompatible. Reinstall the parent application and its required runtime rather than copying another DLL.

What information should I give the software vendor?

Provide the application name and executable, the complete error text, Windows version, whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit, the DLL’s location, recent update or antivirus events, and whether reinstalling the official application changed the error.
