NitroServ is the lowest-priced Core Keeper host in the specific 2026 comparison reviewed here: its four-slot plan is listed at €4.99 per month, and its eight-slot plan at €9.99 per month. That is a useful price lead, not a guarantee of what you will pay at checkout. Currency conversion, tax, renewal pricing, billing period, promotions and plan changes can alter the total.
The cheapest plan is only “still good” if it fits your player count, protects your world, provides enough resources, lets you update the game easily and has terms you can live with. The guide below separates the listed prices from those practical checks.

That makes NitroServ cheaper at both matching capacity tiers in that particular comparison. It does not prove NitroServ is the cheapest host in every country or that no unlisted provider has a lower price. The comparison tracks two providers and is not a complete market census or an independent performance test.

Listed plans at a glance
| Provider and plan | Listed capacity | Listed price | What the listing distinguishes | How comparable it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NitroServ, 4 slots | 4 players | €4.99/month | Dedicated CPU resources, DDoS mitigation, NVMe storage, automatic backups with three-day plus 30-day retention, France datacenter | Directly comparable four-slot example |
| Minestrator, MyBox 4 | 4 players | €6.99/month | 4 GB RAM tier; French panel and support positioning | Directly comparable four-player example, but a different resource model |
| NitroServ, 8 slots | 8 players | €9.99/month | Lower-priced eight-slot option in the comparison | Directly comparable eight-slot example |
| Minestrator, MyBox 8 | 8 players | €13.99/month | 8 GB RAM tier; fixed RAM-based choice | Comparable by slots, not necessarily by CPU or storage allocation |
| Hostari, Traveller monthly | Not specified on the opened provider page | $19.69/month | Longer commitments show lower monthly equivalents but charge a larger total at renewal | Not directly comparable across currencies, regions, slots and resource models |
Hostari’s displayed $19.69 monthly amount is higher than the low-cost examples above, but it should not be treated as an equivalent eight-player or four-player quote because the opened page does not state the player-slot capacity. Its longer-term “monthly equivalent” also represents a commitment whose full term is charged, rather than a month-to-month price.
When is a €4.99 plan actually good enough?
Price answers only one question. A usable Core Keeper server must remain available for the group, preserve the save and provide enough headroom for the way you play. Evaluate these items before choosing the smallest plan.
Match the slot count to the real group
The listed comparison tiers are for four and eight players. Choose four slots when no more than four people need to connect at once; choose eight when the group regularly reaches five to eight. Do not pay for unused capacity, but do not promise a larger community a plan whose supported maximum is four or eight. Ask the provider about the maximum upgrade path if your group may grow.

Verify CPU and memory rather than trusting “unlimited” wording
NitroServ is described as providing dedicated CPU resources. Minestrator’s listed alternatives are explicit RAM tiers: 4 GB for MyBox 4 and 8 GB for MyBox 8. These descriptions are not equivalent measurements. A RAM number does not disclose CPU scheduling, storage performance or other limits, while “dedicated CPU” does not by itself state the amount of memory available.

Sharpen your combat skills against a variety of monsters and mini-bosses, spend talent points to level up your abilities, and plan your strategy to conquer these colossal creatures of the underground. Discover rare and powerful loot to help you on your journey and power up the Core.
- EXPLORE WITH FRIENDS - Enjoy the adventure solo or team up in 2-8 player drop-in/drop-out online co-op. Play your way and explore at your own pace — celebrate the seasons, trade with merchants, hatch your new best friends, design the ultimate base, automate resource gathering, host your own dedicated server, create music on playable instruments and discover an unforgettable sandbox adventure.
For an unmodded world with a small group, the lower slot tier may be adequate. A heavily developed world, many automated systems or a modded installation can create a larger resource demand. The available listings do not establish tested minimum requirements for every world size or mod collection, so ask how upgrades work and what happens when a plan reaches its resource limit.
Protect the world with usable backups
A cheap server is a poor bargain if corruption or an accidental deletion costs the group its world. The NitroServ listing specifies automatic backups with three-day and 30-day retention. Minestrator is listed with SmartBackup, but the comparison does not state an equivalent retention schedule. Neither description is an independent test of restoration.
Before paying, check four separate details:
- How often an automatic backup is created.
- How many days or versions are retained.
- Whether you can download the save file yourself.
- Whether restoring a selected backup is included or treated as a support request or paid add-on.
Keep an occasional copy outside the host as well. Provider-side retention protects against some mistakes, but it does not replace an independently stored save.

Check the datacenter against the players’ location
NitroServ’s listed datacenter is in France, which may be a sensible starting point for a group concentrated in France or nearby European countries. That fact does not establish a particular player’s latency, and it says nothing about North American, Asian or other regions. Confirm the available locations and select the one geographically closest to most players. If the host offers a trial or an easy cancellation period, use that window to check actual in-game responsiveness rather than assuming a region label guarantees low latency.

- UK account may be required for any online features
Look for practical protection and administration
The comparison identifies DDoS protection, easy version updates, backups and dedicated resources as important checks. Confirm that the control panel lets you stop and start the server, change the Core Keeper version, upload or download saves, schedule maintenance and change the player limit without opening a ticket. Ask whether mods are supported and whether updates can be delayed until you have copied the save.
How the main low-cost options differ
NitroServ: lowest listed price
NitroServ is the price leader in the tracked four- and eight-slot examples: €4.99 and €9.99 per month respectively. The listing also associates it with dedicated CPU resources, NVMe storage, DDoS mitigation, a France location and the stated three-day plus 30-day backup retention. Those are useful on-paper distinctions for a budget buyer. They are not measurements of uptime, latency, support response or successful restoration, so treat them as advertised features to verify in the current plan description.
Minestrator: pay more for a stated RAM tier
Minestrator’s MyBox 4 is listed at €6.99 per month with 4 GB RAM, while MyBox 8 is €13.99 with 8 GB RAM. The fixed memory tiers make the resource choice easier to understand than a vague “unlimited” label, although RAM alone cannot predict performance. The comparison also associates Minestrator with a French-language panel and support. That may matter if your administrators prefer French, but confirm the actual support hours, language coverage and response commitments.
Hostari: a different billing example, not a like-for-like bargain
Hostari displays a Traveller monthly price of $19.69 on the provider page accessed October 13, 2026. The opened page does not specify its player-slot capacity, so the amount cannot be ranked fairly against four- or eight-slot plans. It also displays lower monthly equivalents for longer commitments while charging the larger total for the full term. Consider it an example of why “per month” needs a billing-period explanation, not evidence that it is a better or worse Core Keeper value.

What “cheap” plans can cost after the headline price
Check the complete order summary, not just the promotional monthly figure. Confirm the following before submitting payment:
- Currency and whether local tax is added at checkout.
- Introductory price, ordinary renewal price and the date the change takes effect.
- Monthly billing versus a prepaid multi-month or annual commitment.
- Setup, extra storage, additional backup or file-access charges.
- Cancellation timing, refund rules and whether a server remains active until the paid period ends.
- Upgrade and downgrade charges, including whether a new plan starts immediately or at the next renewal.
A provider may advertise a low monthly equivalent for a long contract. Compare the total charged today and the total due at renewal with a genuinely month-to-month alternative. Do not assume that a lower equivalent is a lower short-term cost.
Self-hosting versus renting
Core Keeper’s dedicated server can run on a spare home computer. If that machine is already powered on and your internet connection permits incoming connections, self-hosting can avoid a recurring hosting invoice. A cost guide estimates electricity, internet usage, hardware depreciation and maintenance time, but those inputs depend on your household, location and equipment; they are not universal prices.
Include the work involved: installing and updating the dedicated server, configuring router access, securing the machine, making and testing backups, and keeping the computer online whenever friends want to play. A home connection may also have changing public IP addresses, upload limitations or provider restrictions. Renting can be the better value when the world must stay online while your computer is off, when nobody wants to maintain updates, or when the group needs a datacenter near its players.
Best Value
- UK PSN account may be required for any online features
Do not assume either model is always cheaper. Compare your actual electricity and maintenance opportunity cost with the host’s recurring fee, then value the convenience and availability your group needs.
A buying process that avoids the common mistakes
- Count simultaneous players. Select four slots only if four is a genuine maximum; select eight if the group routinely exceeds four.
- Write down the resource model. Record stated RAM, CPU policy, storage type and any usage limits. Treat missing values as questions for support, not as unlimited capacity.
- Map the backup policy. Note frequency, retention, download access and restoration steps. For NitroServ’s listing, record the three-day plus 30-day retention exactly rather than assuming indefinite history.
- Choose a region. Compare datacenter locations with where players live. France is the listed NitroServ location; verify whether another location is available if most players are elsewhere.
- Test administration before inviting everyone. Confirm version changes, save uploads and downloads, restart controls, password or allow-list settings and mod handling.
- Calculate the real bill. Check tax, currency, renewal, contract length, add-ons and cancellation before paying.
- Make an independent save copy. Download the world and keep it somewhere the hosting account cannot erase.
- Reassess after the first busy session. Watch for disconnects, slow saves, memory warnings and resource-limit notices. Upgrade or move before the world becomes dependent on an undersized plan.
Budget expectations for 2026
One 2026 hosting guide groups its own estimated market ranges at roughly $4–8 per month for budget plans, $8–14 for standard plans and $14–20 for performance plans. These are the guide publisher’s estimates, not a survey or independently verified market census. NitroServ’s listed €4.99 four-slot price sits near the bottom of that broad estimate, while its €9.99 eight-slot price falls in the standard band. Currency, included resources and contract terms prevent a direct conversion into a universal ranking.
Bottom line for different groups
Two to four players on a normal world
Start by checking NitroServ’s listed €4.99 four-slot plan. It is the lowest explicit price in the comparison, and its listed backups, NVMe storage and DDoS mitigation address several basic requirements. Verify the live terms and make your own save copy.
Recommended Free Tools
Five to eight regular players
The listed NitroServ eight-slot plan at €9.99 is the lower-priced eight-player example in the comparison. Compare its actual resource limits with Minestrator’s €13.99 eight-slot plan and 8 GB RAM description before deciding whether the extra stated memory is worth the difference for your world.
Administrators who prioritize a stated memory tier
Minestrator’s 4 GB and 8 GB choices provide a clearer RAM figure, at higher listed prices of €6.99 and €13.99. Confirm CPU, storage, backup retention and upgrade rules, because RAM alone does not describe the whole server.
A group deciding between home hosting and a rental
Price the electricity, internet, hardware wear and maintenance time of a home machine. Choose a rental when persistent availability, a nearby datacenter and managed updates are worth paying for; choose self-hosting when a suitable computer is already running and someone accepts the operational work.
