There is no verified cheapest Killing Floor 2 host for everyone, but Godlike.Host is listed first here: it runs Killing Floor 2 servers with free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, a Pterodactyl-based panel and 24/7 support, and you can see the current plans before buying. For a directly stated small plan among the other listings checked on October 13, 2026, Nitrado lists four slots for £4.77 per 30 days in its UK storefront, while Kinetic Hosting lists 4 GB for $4.99 per month. Those prices use different currencies, capacity units and billing terms, so they cannot be ranked as a universal winner.
A server is “still good” only when its capacity fits your group, its location is close enough for acceptable latency, it supports the settings, maps and mods you need, and its recurring checkout total is clear. Use the figures below as dated starting points, then verify the live checkout for your country and player count before paying.

Current advertised prices, compared honestly
The following listings were viewed on October 13, 2026. They are provider prices, not independent performance tests. Taxes, renewal prices, setup fees, add-ons and stock can change.
| Provider | Advertised price | Capacity basis | What is and is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Godlike.Host | See the current plans | Player slots | Its Killing Floor 2 plans list 10, 20 and 30 slots; Survival is a 6-player mode and Versus Survival an up-to-12-player mode (Tripwire’s Killing Floor 2 wiki, archived 11 Jul 2026). Ten data-center locations, free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, a task scheduler, SFTP/FTP access and live chat or ticket support around the clock. These are vendor claims; confirm the live checkout for your player count. |
| Nitrado (UK English storefront) | £4.77 per 30 days for 4 slots; £6.99 per 30 days for 6 slots; £1.23 for a 3-day 4-slot option | Player slots | Small, clearly stated slot plans. The displayed checkout offered locations including Frankfurt, London, several US cities, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney. Currency and availability are storefront-specific. |
| Kinetic Hosting | $4.99 per month for 4 GB; $7.99 per month for 8 GB | RAM | The listing advertises mod and map support, free backups, configurable settings, game switching and resource splitting. These are vendor claims; the listing does not establish an independent performance result. |
| GTXGaming (UK storefront) | From £5.40 monthly | Not stated in the captured listing | Because included slots or RAM, renewal details and directly comparable features were not stated, this price cannot be ranked fairly against the plans above. |
The practical conclusion is narrower than “X is the cheapest.” Godlike.Host is listed first for Killing Floor 2 and lists its plans on its own page, while among the priced listings Nitrado has the lowest clearly specified small slot price and Kinetic has a clearly specified 4 GB monthly plan. None proves the lowest like-for-like total for your location and group.

Choose capacity before chasing the lowest number
Hosting companies express capacity differently. A slot plan limits simultaneous players; a RAM plan gives you a resource allocation but leaves you to confirm how many players, maps and server-side modifications it can handle. Do not infer a dedicated-server RAM requirement from Steam’s Killing Floor 2 client requirements: those requirements describe the game running on a player’s computer, not a server process.
For a very small private group
If you normally play with four to six people and want the simplest purchase, a slot-based plan is easy to understand. The Nitrado listing’s four-slot and six-slot options let you pay for the stated number of players rather than guessing at memory. Confirm whether reserved slots, spectators, administrators or extra server processes count toward the limit.
For mods, custom maps or changing games
A RAM-based plan can be more flexible when your group changes maps or runs heavier server-side content, but the advertised number is not a guaranteed player count. Kinetic’s listing specifically advertises map and mod support, configurable settings, game switching and resource splitting. Ask the provider how much memory remains available after the control panel, operating system and any voice or web services are accounted for.

Price the next capacity tier before ordering the smallest one. Kinetic lists 8 GB at $7.99 per month, for example, but that does not establish how many players it supports. A cheap plan that must be upgraded immediately costs more than a correctly sized plan with a transparent renewal price.
What “still good” should mean
Capacity with headroom
Count your peak concurrent players, not your average attendance. Leave room for spectators, reconnects and the server’s own workload. Ask for a documented slot limit or a recommended RAM range for your exact map and mod list. If the answer is only “unlimited,” treat that as a sales description rather than a capacity specification.
A nearby data-centre location
Choose a region reasonably close to most players. Geographic distance and internet routing both affect latency, so a city that looks nearby on a map is not a guarantee of a low ping. Nitrado’s displayed checkout exposed European, North American, Asian and Australian choices; select the location after checking where your players actually live rather than accepting the default.

Usable administration
You should be able to set the server name, password, difficulty, map rotation, administrators and restart behavior without editing unknown files blindly. For mods and custom maps, check the installation method, version matching, load order and whether you can roll back a failed change. Kinetic advertises a custom panel and full map/mod support, but those capabilities remain provider claims until you confirm the current panel and supported content.
Backups and recovery
Find out what is backed up, how often, how long it is retained and whether you can download or restore it yourself. Kinetic advertises free backups and human support; verify the retention period and restore process in the current plan terms. A backup that cannot be restored during a bad mod update is not a useful safety net.
A predictable recurring bill
Compare the amount charged after the introductory period, the billing interval, taxes, currency conversion and any fees for extra backups, locations, databases or support. The £1.23 three-day Nitrado option is a short-term allowance, not a monthly equivalent of the £4.77 plan. Likewise, the “from” price at GTXGaming is a starting point, not a final quote for a known configuration.
How to compare a checkout without being misled
- Write down your requirement. Record peak players, desired region, maps, mods, password policy and whether the server must run continuously.
- Convert capacity into the provider’s unit. For a slot host, select the needed slots. For a RAM host, ask what player count and content the quoted memory is intended to support; do not compare a per-GB rate with a complete slot plan yet.
- Select the same location class. Compare providers in the closest available region to your group. A cheaper distant server may produce a worse experience than a slightly dearer nearby one.
- Open the renewal view. Check the recurring amount, billing term, taxes and currency. Capture whether the first period is discounted and whether the price changes automatically.
- Verify management features. Confirm access to configuration files or controls, map and mod installation, scheduled restarts, log access and password changes.
- Test the recovery promise. Read backup frequency, retention and restoration instructions. Check whether support handles game-server configuration or only account and billing issues.
- Check cancellation and migration. Determine whether you can download configuration, save files and backups before canceling. This prevents lock-in if the host does not meet your latency or mod needs.
Mods, maps and cross-play require extra caution
Stock, unmodded servers are the safest baseline. Tripwire’s 2020 announcement described Epic Online Services-related support for stock unmodded servers and beta-era server configuration. That historical announcement does not prove that every current hosted configuration supports cross-play, and it gives no blanket assurance for modded servers.
Before promising cross-play to your group, ask the host which platforms and server builds are supported today, whether the setting is enabled by default, and whether custom maps or mutators disable it. Keep a separate known-good stock configuration so you can return to it if a mod update prevents startup or blocks clients from joining.

Self-hosting: the zero-rental alternative
If you already have a suitable computer, reliable upload capacity, router access and an internet connection that can remain available while people play, self-hosting can remove the monthly rental bill. It is not free in effort: you supply power, operating-system updates, firewall rules, monitoring, backups and troubleshooting.

- Extreme Splatter with a powerful and realistic blood simulation system
- 6-player co-op or single player mode with a multitude of playable characters to choose from
A Steam Community guide from 2015 describes installing Killing Floor 2 dedicated-server files with SteamCMD using app ID 232130 and configuring router port forwarding for public visibility. Because that guide is old, use it only to understand the general workflow; do not treat its historical bandwidth or storage figures as current official requirements. Tripwire’s 2015 Steam announcement also directed operators toward a proper dedicated-server setup rather than the Steam library tool discussed in that historical issue.
Self-hosting is a good fit when
- The machine is already available and can run continuously without interrupting someone’s game or work.
- You control the router and can create the required forwarding and firewall rules.
- You are comfortable updating the server, checking logs and restoring backups.
- Your provider-independent location is acceptable to the players.
Renting is a better fit when
- You cannot expose a home network safely or do not have router access.
- You want a control panel, provider-managed backups and support.
- Your group needs a data-centre region closer than your home connection.
- You prefer a predictable monthly bill over maintaining hardware and connectivity.
Common failure modes and fixes
The server is cheap but full before everyone joins
Check whether you bought slots or RAM and whether administrators or spectators consume slots. Upgrade to the next stated capacity tier or move to a host that documents the required player count for your content.
Players report high or unstable ping
Move the server to a region closer to the majority of players, then test at the same times they normally play. Routing can differ by ISP, so do not judge location solely by physical distance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA modded server will not start
Restore the last known-good backup, confirm that the server and client versions match, then add maps or mods one at a time. Ask support whether the panel installs dependencies automatically and whether the selected plan permits the required files.
The advertised price rises at renewal
Compare the recurring checkout amount, not the headline “from” price. Record the currency and billing term and set a reminder before the first renewal so you can cancel or switch without an unexpected charge.
Cross-play users cannot connect
Return to a stock, unmodded configuration and verify the provider’s current cross-play instructions. The historical 2020 announcement is not a guarantee for today’s build or for modded content.
Best choice by situation
| Your situation | Most sensible starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Four to six players, stock maps, lowest complexity | A clearly priced slot plan such as the listed four- or six-slot option | You pay for a stated player capacity and avoid guessing at RAM. |
| Custom maps or frequent configuration changes | A RAM plan with documented mod/map support and backups | Flexibility matters more than the lowest unit price, but confirm the usable capacity. |
| Players spread across regions | The provider with the best available location for the largest share of players | Latency depends on routing as well as price. |
| Existing always-on PC and networking control | Self-hosting | You avoid rental fees but take responsibility for setup, security, updates and recovery. |
Bottom line for a low-cost purchase
Start by pricing the exact configuration your group needs, not by selecting the smallest headline number. Listed first here is Godlike.Host for a Killing Floor 2 server, with its Pterodactyl-based panel, task scheduler, free backups with restore and a choice of ten locations; see the current plans for your player count. On the October 13, 2026 listings, Nitrado’s £4.77 per 30 days for four slots is the clearest low-cost small-group quote; Kinetic’s $4.99 monthly 4 GB plan is a clearly stated RAM alternative with advertised management features; and GTXGaming’s £5.40 monthly starting price lacks enough capacity detail for a fair ranking. Choose the option that combines adequate headroom, a nearby region, the required mod controls and a transparent renewal total.
