Chimera Leather is a skinning reagent in WoW Classic: Season of Discovery. Chimaeras in Azshara and Winterspring are listed as sources, as is The Razza in Feralas. Its documented Season of Discovery crafting use is the Paranoia Mantle, which requires eight pieces.
Where to get Chimera Leather
Skin chimaeras in Azshara or Winterspring, or skin The Razza in Feralas. These are the documented sources; the available references do not establish specific spawn points, drop rates, faction advantages, or a best farming circuit. Warcraft Wiki’s Chimera Leather entry lists the acquisition zones and creature source.
What Chimera Leather is used for in Season of Discovery
The documented Season of Discovery use is crafting the Paranoia Mantle, listed as Sunken Temple crafted gear in Wowhead’s Season of Discovery Leatherworking Guide, updated April 8, 2025, for Patch 1.15.8.
Paranoia Mantle materials
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Chimera Leather | 8 |
| Nightmare Seeds | 10 |
| Inert Mantle of Nightmares | 1 |
| Rugged Leather | 4 |
The guide lists Leatherworking thresholds of 250, 255, and 260 for the recipe. It says the Inert Mantle of Nightmares is awarded once for completing the Sunken Temple crafted-gear questline; additional ones can be bought from Rix Xizzix in Booty Bay. Nightmare Seeds drop from mobs in the Sunken Temple Level-Up Raid.

Price and farming limits
No current realm-specific Auction House price, drop rate, or verified route ranking is established by the cited references. Wowhead’s item database lists an item level of 50, a stack limit of 20, and a sell price of 5; that database value is not a current Auction House quote or a reliable measure of market value. Wowhead’s Chimera Leather item page provides those item details.
The recipe and use information here reflects the cited guide’s April 8, 2025 update and Patch 1.15.8; later game updates may change crafting details.
