Expedition 33 May 9 Patch Notes refers to update 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, released May 9, 2025. It brought a wide set of platform, display, input, traversal, and quest fixes, alongside weapon and Lumina corrections and a 40% reduction to Stendhal damage. It is a historical update, not the game’s latest patch.
What the May 9 patch changed
Sandfall Interactive grouped version 1.2.3’s changes across platform compatibility, display and control fixes, traversal, and gameplay balance. The official notes are available on the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 site.

Platform, display, and input fixes
- Steam Deck: Fixed menu backgrounds that were not displaying correctly.
- PC Game Pass: Added compatibility for PS5 controllers.
- Ultrawide displays: Fixed several presentation problems: zooming after cutscenes, stretched imagery in Options, combat UI adaptation, the game minimizing after settings changes, letterboxing at 32:9, and fullscreen presentation on the title screen.
- Mouse and keyboard: Fixed incorrect prompts in the Expedition Menu, unresponsive mouse buttons, the cursor disappearing during keyboard navigation, mouse clicks blocking keyboard navigation, and mouse input being lost after the first Jump counterattack.
World map and Esquie traversal
The patch addressed places where the player could get stuck while exploring. World-map fixes covered locations near Stone Wave Cliffs, Forgotten Battlefield, Spring Meadows, Abbest Cave, Flying Manor, and Flying Waters, as well as other rocks and terrain. Esquie fixes addressed getting stuck in several places, including takeoff from paint bridges and locations near Visages, Flying Waters, and Blades’ Graveyard.
Weapons, Lumina, and damage balance
- Lithelim and Blizzon: Corrected weapon scaling behavior.
- Medalum: Corrected its third Lumina so that, in Virtuose Stance, it doubles Burn damage rather than all damage.
- Stendhal: Reduced its damage by 40%, as specified in the official notes.
Quest, progression, and other fixes
- Made the Stone Wave Cliffs boss fight finishable in New Game+.
- Fixed a Journal UI issue that could block progress in Spring Meadows.
- Corrected free-aim firing problems caused by worn triggers.
- Fixed a character spawn issue in a relationship quest.
- Fixed a camp-menu sequence that could leave the screen black.
- Prevented an Old Lumière cutscene from triggering repeatedly and splitting the party.
- Updated the rolling credits.
Which platforms and setups are covered?
The official post is tagged for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, and the game’s official site also links to Epic. However, the notes call out some fixes for particular setups rather than saying every change applies identically everywhere: Steam Deck menu rendering and PS5 controller compatibility on PC Game Pass are explicit examples. Is version 1.2.3 still the latest update?
No. Version 1.2.3 is the update released on May 9, 2025. The official news listing later included version 1.4.0 and a December 2025 Thank You update; check the official Expedition 33 news page for later announcements. The 1.2.3 post itself displays a later page update date of June 11, 2025, but its patch release date remains May 9, 2025.
