Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 update 1.3.0, announced June 12, 2025, added the option to rematch Simon after defeating him, made Story Mode more forgiving, introduced challenge modifiers from Act III onward, and included 297 reported bug fixes. It is a historical patch, not the game’s latest update.
What changed in update 1.3.0?
Sandfall Interactive’s official 1.3.0 announcement groups the changes into gameplay adjustments, challenge options, fixes, and settings and localization updates.

Simon rematch
After defeating Simon, players can challenge him again. The announcement states: “Players can now rematch Simon after defeating him!”
Story Mode balancing
Story Mode widens parry and dodge windows by 40% and reduces incoming damage by 10% to 50%. These are the adjustments specified in the patch notes; the announcement does not break down the damage reduction by enemy or encounter.

Challenge modifiers
Starting in Act III, modifiers are available at flag checkpoints. They let players limit maximum player damage or increase enemy health:
- Maximum player damage: cap damage at 99,999 or 999,999.
- Enemy HP multiplier: multiply enemy HP by x2, x5, x10, x20, x50, or x100.
Bug fixes
The team reports 297 total bug fixes and highlights examples rather than listing every fix. Notable changes include correcting Verso’s Perfection when he is in reserve; fixing memory-leak lag caused by the Simoso weapon; resolving an Xbox Series X|S save-loading soft lock; improving cutscene scaling on ultrawide and non-standard resolutions; and addressing save-position and performance issues, crashes after dialogue, stability problems after extended play, and incorrect French voiceover selection.

Settings and localization
- Added an option to mute or unmute background audio.
- Improved mouse and joystick sensitivity.
- Added manual save renaming in the
EXPEDITION_XXformat, using values from 00 through 09. - Updated rolling credits, adjusted Chinese, Japanese, and Korean font sizes, and made string and text corrections.
Platforms and download note
The official announcement links to the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic. It specifically notes that Steam users may have an additional hotfix to download; that note does not establish that other platforms require a separate hotfix. Check the update status for your platform if the patch does not appear or the game behaves unexpectedly.
