Clickolding is a dark, tightly focused narrative game that asks you to sit in a hotel room and repeatedly click a tally counter for a masked man. It is framed as a one-sitting story, not a guaranteed 30-minute experience: players should not assume they will finish in exactly half an hour. The game’s mature-content advisory names suggestive language and a depiction of suicide.
What is Clickolding?
Developed by Strange Scaffold and published by Strange Scaffold and Outersloth, Clickolding released on July 16, 2024. Steam lists it as a single-player Windows game. Its premise is deliberately spare: a masked man in a hotel room offers you money to click a tally counter. The store description says leaving means forfeiting the money and being unable to return.
That simple task is the game’s central interaction rather than a gateway to a broad exploration game. The repetition and the uneasy situation are the point; the experience derives its tension from what the counter, the man, and the choice imply.
Why does it feel so disturbing?
The counter makes the player an active participant in an uncomfortable bargain. Each click is small and mechanical, but the surrounding scenario gives the action a troubling weight. Instead of relying on a sprawling world or a steady stream of conventional scares, the game holds attention on one room, one person, and the choice to continue or leave.

That narrow design is also why the premise can be more unsettling than its apparent scale suggests. The game’s discomfort comes from the situation and the player’s repeated involvement in it, not from a long list of systems or locations.
How long is Clickolding?
Strange Scaffold’s Steam listing describes Clickolding as a polished, one-sitting story. It does not promise a 30-minute completion time, so the title’s “30 minute game” phrasing should be read as an impression of its compact scale, not an official runtime. An August 2, 2024 update added postgame dialogue and adjusted pacing in the back half; it also activated Twitch integration.

Should you play it?
Consider the content advisory before starting: the developer specifically names suggestive language and a depiction of suicide. If those subjects are not right for you, skipping the game is a reasonable choice. If you are interested in short-form narrative games that make a single repeated action feel consequential, Clickolding offers a distinctive, deliberately uncomfortable premise rather than a broad horror adventure.

The August 2, 2024 update is the major documented post-release change: it added dialogue after the ending, tuned the latter half’s pacing, and enabled Twitch integration. Separately, Strange Scaffold announced on September 18, 2026, that it had partnered with The Yetee on Clickolding shirts. That announcement establishes the partnership, not current inventory or an affiliate arrangement.
