- Identify the exact printer model from the printer label or its existing Windows entry.
- Open Canon’s official Software and Drivers support portal.
- Choose Printers, then select the exact printer model.
- Select your Windows version and the appropriate system architecture.
- Download the Canon printer driver or full driver package offered for that model.
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners on Windows 11, or Devices > Printers & scanners on Windows 10.
- Select the affected Canon printer and choose Remove.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps. On Windows 10, open Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Remove the corresponding Canon driver utility or printer software if it is listed.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the Canon installer. If Windows asks for permission, choose Yes.
- Connect or re-add the printer when the installer requests it.
- Print a test page.
If the error disappears and the test page prints, the damaged package was the cause. If the installer still reports that cnb_0325.dll is missing, confirm that you selected the exact model and Windows architecture rather than a similar Canon printer.

Do not download the DLL from a random DLL archive and place it in C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or an application folder. The replacement may have the wrong architecture, dependencies, signature or driver version, and copying it will not repair the package registration.
Fix 2: Check whether Windows blocked or quarantined the file
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Antivirus software can quarantine a driver component after installation. A file name that looks like a Canon DLL is not proof that the file is safe, so verify its origin before restoring anything.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections involving Canon software, the printer installer or
cnb_0325.dll. - Open the detection details and check the original file path, publisher and detection name.
- If the file clearly came from a genuine Canon installation and the detection is a confirmed false positive, choose the available Restore or Allow on device action.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the printer’s test page again.
Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined file returns it to the device and may cause the detection to appear again. If the publisher or original path is unclear, do not restore it. Remove the questionable installation, run a full Microsoft Defender scan, and reinstall the driver from Canon’s official support portal.
Fix 3: Confirm the driver architecture and printer package
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A 32-bit DLL can be part of a 32-bit Canon component even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Do not install a 32-bit version of Windows merely because a file database reports that this particular DLL is 32-bit.
Check the Windows architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Find System type under Device specifications.
- Note whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
- Return to Canon’s Software and Drivers page.
- Select the exact printer model and the matching Windows edition and architecture.
Then remove stale printer entries:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Remove duplicate or obsolete entries for the same Canon printer.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the newly downloaded Canon package.
- Add the printer again and print a test page.
If the error names an executable rather than the printer, open Event Viewer by searching for it in Start. Go to Windows Logs > Application and inspect the failing application and path. This can reveal whether the requester is a Canon utility, a print-related process or an unrelated program left behind after an uninstall.

Fix 4: Repair the printer software through Windows
Time needed: 10–15 minutes
Windows may retain a broken printer entry even after the main Canon program has been removed.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the Canon printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Open Control Panel.
- Select View devices and printers.
- Select Print server properties from the toolbar. You may need administrator approval.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the old Canon driver and choose Remove.
- Choose Remove driver and driver package if Windows offers that option.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the matching Canon package.
Do not delete files manually from the Windows Driver Store. Windows expects driver files to arrive through a trusted, signed package. Removing isolated files can leave the printer installation in a less consistent state.

- Open Settings.
- Select System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Find Printer.
- Select Run.
- Apply any recommended repair.
- Test the printer again.
You can also restart the print service:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
services.mscand press Enter. - Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- Try printing again.
These steps can repair a damaged printer connection, but they will not recreate a missing Canon DLL. Reinstall the Canon package if the file error remains.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Because cnb_0325.dll is a Canon driver component, Windows System File Checker may not restore it. Run these commands when Windows has other corruption symptoms, the Canon installer fails, or several system components are malfunctioning.

- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows files. Restart after both commands complete, then reinstall the Canon printer package.

Fix 6: Update or reinstall related drivers
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
The primary driver is the Canon printer package, but an incomplete update can also leave old printer components behind.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and, where present, Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click the Canon printer entry.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers to remove the driver package, select that option only when you intend to reinstall it immediately.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the exact Canon driver downloaded from Canon.
- Re-add the printer and print a test page.
Do not rely on Device Manager as the only source for a Canon printer driver. It may not offer the full Canon package or the newest model-specific components.

- Expand it and check the components relevant to your setup.
- Select OK and allow Windows to apply the change.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the Canon installer again.
Do not enable unrelated legacy features simply because a DLL error appears. If the Canon installer completes but the same DLL error remains, return to the full driver removal and reinstall procedure.

Do not run:
regsvr32 cnb_0325.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration functions such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by COM or ActiveX components. A printer-driver DLL is not automatically a self-registering COM library.
You may receive an error stating that the module was loaded but the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found. That result does not identify the real problem. Install the complete Canon driver package instead.
Common causes of the error
The usual causes, in practical order, are:

“The specified module could not be found” can also mean that the DLL exists but one of its dependencies is missing. That is another reason a complete package reinstall is safer than copying a replacement file.
No reliable public evidence ties cnb_0325.dll to a particular game or general-purpose application. If the error appears during startup and no Canon printer is installed, inspect the executable path in Event Viewer and remove leftover Canon software rather than assuming the file belongs to the program named in the error.

Is `cnb_0325.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is associated with the Canon Inkjet Printer Driver and is not shown as a Windows-supplied system DLL.
Should I install Visual C++ 2015?
