Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Canon printer package

- Select Printers & scanners.

- Select Installed apps.
- Search for
Canon. - Uninstall Canon printer utilities, drivers, and related software for the affected model.
- Restart Windows.
On older Windows installations, open Control Panel, select Programs and Features, select the Canon software, and choose Uninstall or Repair if available. Microsoft describes both removal paths in its Windows app and program uninstall guidance.
If Windows still lists the printer:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

Download and install from Canon

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Find the event mentioning

If the file was found in a temporary folder, a download folder, or an unexpected application directory, treat it as untrusted even if the filename matches. A familiar filename does not prove that the file is authentic.
Fix 3: Check the driver in Device Manager
Device Manager can reveal whether Windows still has a broken Canon device entry.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for the Canon printer or an entry with a yellow warning icon.
- Right-click the affected entry and select Properties.
- Read the status shown under General.
- Select Driver and note the provider and date.

Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. A printer-driver support DLL is not automatically a self-registering COM or ActiveX component.

Running this command is therefore usually the wrong repair:
regsvr32 cnb_0329.dll
It may produce an error stating that the module loaded but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. That does not mean Windows needs a different copy of the file. It means the DLL is not designed for that registration process. Microsoft documents the utility and its intended behavior in the regsvr32 command reference.
Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64, and do not install DirectX or Visual C++ Redistributable packages solely because this filename appears in the error.
If the error appears at every startup
A startup message with no Canon printer attached often means an old Canon component is still being launched.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Remove unused Canon printer software.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Task Manager with
Ctrl + Shift + Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Disable an obsolete Canon entry if its location and purpose are clear.
