“cnbjop7t.dll is missing,” “cnbjop7t.dll was not found,” and “cnbjop7t.dll could not be loaded” are common forms of this error. The cnbjop7t.dll message usually points to a damaged, incomplete, or incompatible Canon printer-driver installation rather than a missing Windows runtime.
The 60-second answer
Do not download cnbjop7t.dll from a random DLL website or copy it into System32.
Instead:
- Identify the Canon printer model that was installed on the computer.
- Remove the affected printer from Windows.
- Restart the computer.
- Download the matching driver or complete software package from Canon’s official support site.
- Install it, restart again, and test printing.
This file is associated with the legacy Canon Inkjet Printer Driver. Public file records identify Canon as the publisher and associate the file with a Canon printer-driver package, possibly involving prnca00g.inf. The precise Canon models, versions, architectures, and package contents are not consistently documented publicly, so the printer model and Canon’s driver selector are more reliable than a DLL index.
What is cnbjop7t.dll?
cnbjop7t.dll is a Canon inkjet printer-driver component. It is a driver file used by the package that installed it, not a general-purpose application library.

It is not normally:
- A core Windows system DLL
- A Visual C++ Redistributable component
- A DirectX file
- A .NET library
- A file that should be registered with
regsvr32 - A standalone file that should be copied into
System32orSysWOW64
The file appears most often in older Canon printer software, particularly packages from the Windows 7 era. It may also remain in a staged Windows Driver Store entry after a printer has been removed. That does not mean every Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation should contain it.
Public records disagree about the file’s version, size, hashes, and whether particular copies are 32-bit or 64-bit. Treat those records as identification clues, not as a universal specification. Install the complete package selected for your Canon model and Windows architecture.
What may have triggered the error?
The timing of the message often identifies the failure:
| When the error started | More likely explanation |
|---|---|
| While printing or opening printer properties | Damaged Canon driver files or dependencies |
| After removing and reinstalling a printer | An incomplete uninstall or stale driver package |
| After a Windows upgrade or update | An older driver is incompatible with the current release |
| Immediately after antivirus detection | The file may have been quarantined |
| After disk cleanup | Old printer software or driver files were removed |
| After restoring or cloning Windows | The Driver Store and registry may no longer match |
| When an unrelated application starts | A misleading message, incorrect application dependency, or malware should be considered |
The exact wording varies by Windows version and calling process. A message about a missing DLL can also mean that a dependency of cnbjop7t.dll is missing or incompatible.
If a game or unrelated application reports this file, do not assume the game needs a Canon DLL. A Canon printer component should normally be loaded by printer software, a print spooler path, or printer properties. Check the process named in the error and scan the system if the message appears unrelated to printing.
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the complete Canon driver
This is the safest and most likely repair.
On Windows 11
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the Canon printer.
- Choose Remove and confirm.
- Restart Windows.
- Return to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- If Windows finds the printer, follow the setup prompts.
- If it does not, select Add manually or run Canon’s model-specific installer.
For older Canon software, use the Canon-provided Printer Driver Uninstaller if the package includes one. Do not delete individual DLLs from driver folders.
On Windows 10
- Open Start > Settings > Devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the Canon printer.
- Choose Remove device, then confirm.
- Restart the computer.
- Return to Printers & scanners.
- Select Add a printer or scanner.
- Let Windows search, or use the Canon installer for the exact model.
Before downloading anything, check the printer’s label, the original documentation, or the old printer entry for its complete model name. A driver for a similar Canon model may install successfully but still lack the required files or features.

Download the driver or full software package from Canon’s official support site. Select the exact Windows release and system type when Canon provides those choices. Prefer a complete Canon package over a loose DLL.
The repair worked if the Canon installer completes without an error, the printer appears without a warning icon, printer properties open normally, and a test page prints.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the work of hunting through multiple driver versions and guessing which installed drivers are stale. Its free scan shows what it identifies, while driver installation and repair require the full version; for this Canon-specific problem, the manufacturer’s exact package remains the primary fix.
Fix 2: Check Windows Update and the driver architecture
Windows may provide a compatible basic printer driver even when Canon no longer supports the model.
- Open Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Try Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device on Windows 11, or Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner on Windows 10.
- If Windows lists the printer, install it and test printing.
Check the system type before choosing an older Canon package:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Open Start > Settings > System > About.
- Look at System type.
- Note whether Windows is 32-bit, 64-bit, or ARM-based.
A 32-bit driver cannot simply be substituted for a 64-bit package, and an old Windows 7 driver may not work correctly on a current Windows release. On ARM-based Windows, use Windows’ supported printer-add workflow when Canon’s installer does not support ARM.
If Windows installs a basic driver but scanning, ink monitoring, borderless printing, or other Canon features are unavailable, that is expected with a generic driver. Advanced features may require Canon software, if the model still has supported software.
Fix 3: Remove a stale driver through Windows
Removing the printer entry does not always remove its old driver package.

- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the old Canon driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package when Windows offers that choice.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the correct Canon package.
Only remove a driver when you are sure it belongs to the obsolete Canon installation. Do not delete files directly from the Driver Store. Microsoft documents the Driver Store as a managed location for complete, validated driver packages; manual editing can leave Windows with mismatched files and metadata.
If the driver is in use, restart the computer and repeat the removal before reinstalling. You can also remove the printer first, because Windows may refuse to remove a package still attached to an active printer queue.
Fix 4: Check antivirus quarantine
If the file disappeared immediately after Microsoft Defender or another antivirus product reported it, inspect quarantine history.
In Windows Security:
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review entries related to the Canon printer software.
- Confirm the affected path, detection name, and originating installer.
Restore a file only when its provenance and digital signature are trusted. Restoring a genuine threat can expose the computer. The safer repair is usually to remove the incomplete printer installation and reinstall the signed Canon package from the official source.
If antivirus repeatedly quarantines the freshly installed Canon driver, stop reinstalling it blindly. Update the security product, review its detection details, and contact Canon or the security vendor if the package is being identified incorrectly.

Use these commands when the error began after broader Windows corruption, an interrupted update, or several unrelated system errors. They are secondary repairs for this problem because SFC and DISM do not normally replace a third-party Canon DLL.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command first:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Canon printer driver if the error remains.
A successful result means DISM or SFC completed and reported that corruption was repaired or that no integrity violations were found. If either command reports that it could not complete, install pending Windows updates, restart, and run the sequence again. If the Canon error continues after successful scans, return to the Canon driver reinstall rather than repeatedly running system repair commands.

System Restore is appropriate when the error began immediately after a driver installation, Windows change, or software removal and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the printer-driver change.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point.
- Let Windows restart and complete the operation.
System Restore does not replace personal documents, but it can remove drivers and applications installed after the selected restore point. If no suitable restore point exists, cancel the wizard and use the clean Canon reinstall path instead.
Should you use regsvr32?
Usually, no.
regsvr32 is intended for self-registering OLE controls and ActiveX DLLs. A printer-driver module is not automatically a self-registering COM component. Registering it is not how a Canon printer package is installed.
If you run:
regsvr32 cnbjop7t.dll
and Windows reports that DllRegisterServer is missing, that does not prove the file is corrupt. It generally means registration is not the correct installation mechanism. Do not switch between 32-bit and 64-bit regsvr32 commands unless Canon’s documentation specifically requires it for a component that supports registration.
What if reinstalling produces another missing-DLL error?
A different DLL error usually means the original installation was incomplete or the package has additional dependencies. Do not download each new filename separately.

Instead:
- Remove the Canon printer and its old driver package again.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the complete package for the exact model.
- Confirm that antivirus did not quarantine part of the installer.
- Check whether the package supports your Windows version and architecture.
- Install from an administrator account.
- Restart and test.
If the installer still fails, review Event Viewer, the Canon installer log, Windows Update history, disk health, and whether the installation fails only under one damaged Windows user profile. If the printer is discontinued, use Windows’ basic printer-driver workflow and accept that Canon-specific features may not be available.
FAQ
Is cnbjop7t.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is associated with a Canon inkjet printer-driver package. It may be staged in the Windows Driver Store, but it is not a universal DLL required by every Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation.

Which Canon printer uses this file?
The available public evidence does not establish a reliable model list. Identify the printer and use Canon’s model-specific driver selector rather than choosing a DLL by filename.
Is this mainly a Windows 7 problem?
The file appears associated with legacy printer software, especially Windows 7-era packages, but an old Canon driver can remain on or be migrated to Windows 10 or Windows 11. The operating system alone does not identify the correct package.
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Can I copy the file into System32?
No. A loose copy can have the wrong architecture, version, dependencies, or signature, and it does not restore the complete printer-driver package.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
There is no reliable evidence that those runtimes are the normal fix for this Canon driver component. Reinstall the complete Canon package first.
What if I no longer own the Canon printer?
Remove the obsolete printer and driver. If an unrelated program continues to request the file, inspect the calling process and run a security scan rather than restoring a loose DLL.
Does a 64-bit copy work on 32-bit Windows?
No. Driver architecture must match the supported Windows installation. Use Canon’s driver selector or Windows’ printer installation workflow for the system type shown in Settings > System > About.
