- Download the printer driver or full driver-and-software package offered for that model.

- Follow the setup wizard.
- Connect or power on the printer only when the installer requests it.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Print a Windows test page.
Do not use a driver for a similar-looking Canon model. Printer families can use different packages even when their names are nearly identical.

Windows may have a compatible basic driver, or it may be able to retrieve a newer package after the damaged printer entry is removed.
- Press Windows + I.
- Open Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Open Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Expand Driver updates, if that section is present.
- Install a Canon printer-related update.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Wait for Windows to find the printer.
- Select the printer and complete setup.
If Windows adds only a basic driver, printing may work but Canon-specific scanning, maintenance, or ink-level features may not. Install the full package from Canon when those features are required.

printui.exe /s /t2. - Press Enter.
- Select the Drivers tab.

Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when multiple Windows components are failing, printer installation is broadly broken, or system files may have been damaged. They are not a replacement for the Canon driver installer.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Try installing the Canon driver again.

If both commands complete without finding a problem, the missing file is more likely part of the Canon driver package than Windows itself.

To check Windows architecture:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type.
Choose the driver offered for that Windows installation and printer model. Do not download a file labelled x86 or x64 solely because the label appears to match your computer. The complete package must match the printer, Windows release, and driver architecture.

Check these locations:
- Settings > Apps > Installed apps for old Canon utilities.
- Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners for an abandoned printer entry.
- Task Manager > Startup apps for Canon launchers.
- Task Scheduler for obsolete Canon tasks.
- Windows Security > Protection history for suspicious files.
