In EA’s College Football 25 gameplay deep dive, CampusIQ is the umbrella for three design pillars—individual player differences, varied team schemes, and the pressure and emotion of college football. Its Wear and Tear system tracks physical damage to all 22 players on the field, while Fatigue separately models conditioning and snap counts. EA’s descriptions explain the intended systems; they are not independent tests of how the game performs.
What CampusIQ means in College Football 25
EA presents CampusIQ as the overall gameplay concept, organized around three pillars. The names are EA’s, and the descriptions below reflect the developer’s stated design goals rather than an independent assessment of how well they work in play.

| EA’s pillar | What it is intended to represent |
|---|---|
| “All 22+” | Differences in individual players’ abilities and talent, so players on the same team do not all feel alike. |
| “134 ways to play” | The variety of offensive schemes used by college teams. |
| “Stories of Saturday” | The emotional pressure of college football; EA contrasts how a true freshman might respond with how a senior might respond. |
EA also connects CampusIQ to player abilities, matchups, and home-field effects. The deep dive describes 80 abilities, divided into physical and mental categories with bronze, silver, gold, and platinum tiers. A player can have up to five physical and three mental abilities, with archetype determining which abilities they have. Home-field advantage can affect pre- and post-snap play: EA’s examples include distorted play art, failed audibles or hot routes, and receiver icons fading. These are publisher-stated feature details, not audited counts or independent gameplay findings.
How Wear and Tear works
Wear and Tear is EA’s physical-impact system. The deep dive says it applies to all 22 players on the field and accumulates from hits during play. Damage is tracked by body part, and body parts connect to player attributes. For example, damage to a quarterback’s throwing arm can reduce throw power and accuracy; leg damage can affect change of direction and acceleration.

Damage does not build identically for every player or body part. EA says body parts degrade at different rates and player toughness affects how much damage a hit applies. As damage to a body part increases, so do the chance and severity of injury. This makes a banged-up player a roster decision, not merely a visual status change.
When players recover
EA says players recover Wear and Tear while off the field, during timeouts, at halftime, and between weeks. More severely damaged body parts recover more slowly, and recovery during a game is limited. Substituting a player can therefore give them time to recover, though EA says positions are handled differently: most can be rotated around fatigue or an injured body part, while quarterback and offensive line have different substitution considerations.

Wear and Tear vs. Fatigue
EA distinguishes the systems by what they represent. Fatigue is about conditioning and the number of snaps a player has taken; Wear and Tear represents physical impacts and body-part damage.
| System | What it tracks | What EA says it can mean in play |
|---|---|---|
| Fatigue | Conditioning and snap counts. | A player may briefly leave after consecutive plays to catch a breath. EA’s example is a running back with three consecutive positive carries who may sit for one play and then return. |
| Wear and Tear | Accumulated physical damage to body parts from hits. | Related attributes can be reduced, injury risk can rise, and damage can carry into later plays or a subsequent week in Dynasty or Road To Glory. |
In short, a substitution caused by fatigue can be a short rest; a Wear and Tear concern is damage that may remain after the player returns and can persist beyond the current game.

Where to check a player’s status
EA describes several ways to monitor condition during play and manage it from menus:
- Player reticle: Wear and Tear bars appear on the left and Fatigue on the right. The Wear and Tear bars indicate the most hurt body part; they do not show every body part individually.
- Depth chart: Open the player card and inspect its Wear and Tear panel.
- Coach Vision: Hold LT+RS to surface information including Wear and Tear, composure or confidence, abilities, and matchups.
- Play-call menu: Player status appears in a picture-in-picture view.
- Dynasty: Use the player card to manage status.
These views let you use the condition information at different points: the reticle during action, Coach Vision when assessing the field, and player cards when making roster decisions.

The deep dive also describes passing and pre-snap systems: custom route stems, a passing-accuracy interface whose regions depend on quarterback ratings and the situation, and six pass-protection targeting schemes. EA lists more than 1,500 new plays, more than 50 formations, 134 team playbooks, and 10 non-team playbooks. These are counts stated by EA in its feature announcement, not independently verified measures of gameplay variety.
