As of October 8, 2026, Funcom has not confirmed a general fix in progress for every Conan Exiles freeze or crash after an update. The latest official PC patch notes found, Enhanced Patch 3.0.0, were published October 6 and list specific fixes—not a blanket client-crash fix. If your PC game crashes while loading, Funcom’s September guidance was to disable DLSS Frame Generation; outdated graphics drivers and mods are also worth checking. The Xbox server incident reported in September was a separate issue.
What Funcom has confirmed
Funcom’s latest official PC patch notes found are for Conan Exiles Enhanced Patch 3.0.0, published October 6, 2026. They list a fix for a rare server crash and a rendering crash when loading certain mods. Those are specific fixes; the notes do not announce a general fix for post-update client freezes or crashes.

In the September 15 Patch 2.2.0 known-issues guidance, Funcom said: “If you’re experiencing crashes when loading into the game, try disabling DLSS-Framegen. We are working towards a fix.” That statement applies to crashes during loading and reflects the status reported with that patch. The October 6 notes do not establish whether that particular issue remains unresolved.
Identify where the failure happens
A game that closes during startup is not necessarily suffering from the same problem as a freeze during play, a dedicated-server crash, or an inability to join an Xbox server. Before troubleshooting, note your platform, when the failure occurs, whether mods are enabled, and whether the game displays an error.

- Server crash: Patch 3.0.0 lists a fix for one rare server crash; it does not cover every server failure.
- Xbox server connection problem: See the separate incident section below; it was not a report about PC client crashes.
Safe checks for PC crashes
Disable DLSS Frame Generation for a loading crash
Funcom’s September guidance specifically recommends turning off DLSS Frame Generation (“DLSS-Framegen”) when the game crashes while loading. Record the setting’s current value first, then change it and test loading again. If the change does not help, restore the original setting. This is a targeted workaround, not a confirmed fix for freezes at other points.
Update graphics drivers
In the Patch 2.2.0 discussion, Funcom community manager Dana said the team had seen some crashes when Conan Exiles Enhanced was run with outdated graphics drivers and advised updating them. That observation makes driver currency a sensible check, but it does not prove that an outdated driver is responsible for any individual crash.

Check mods after updates
After the Unreal Engine upgrade associated with Patch 2.2.0, Funcom said existing mods needed to be re-cooked. Its October Patch 3.0.0 notes also list a fix for a rendering crash caused by loading certain mods. If you use mods, check whether they are compatible with your current game version and temporarily test without them if practical. These reports support checking mod compatibility; they do not show that mods cause every crash.
Why the September Xbox incident is different
On September 3, Funcom discussed crashes affecting Xbox Official and Private Servers and said a third-party service change was suspected. The company stated that resolving the issue required a client patch and Xbox certification. This was an Xbox server-access incident, not evidence that a PC player’s local freeze has the same cause. What the available reports do not establish
Funcom’s cited notes and updates do not quantify how many players are affected, establish a single cause for post-update crashes, or confirm a universal fix in progress. Patch 3.0.0 is the latest official PC patch found as of October 8, 2026; that does not establish the latest release status for every platform.
