Concord went offline beginning September 6, 2024, just three days after Firewalk Studios announced the shutdown. Sales stopped immediately, and the studio said PS5 and PC purchasers would receive full refunds. How to get one depended on where you bought the game: Sony-store digital purchases were to be refunded automatically, while Steam, Epic Games Store, and physical-copy buyers were directed to their respective storefront or retailer.
What happened to Concord?
Concord was a 5v5 character-driven first-person multiplayer shooter for PlayStation 5 and PC. PlayStation had announced a global launch date of August 23, 2024. On September 3, Game Director Ryan Ellis announced that sales would stop immediately and the game would be taken offline beginning September 6.

Ellis described the decision in the official PlayStation Blog shutdown announcement: “However, while many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended.” That is the public explanation; the announcement did not provide sales, player-count, budget, or loss figures.
How Concord refunds worked by purchase channel
The refund route depended on where you purchased the game. Sony’s Concord refund support page lists the following instructions:
#1 Best Overall
- Concord is a new team-based shooter for PS5 and PC, in which you take control of the fate of your team.
- Assemble your space crew of lawless freegunners in Concord and play online with friends in thrilling 5v5 PVP modes across the galaxy.
| Where you bought Concord | Who handled the refund | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct (PS5 digital purchase) | Sony | Refunds were to be automatic and returned to the original payment method. If that payment source was unavailable, Sony said the money would go to the PSN wallet. |
| Steam (PC) | Steam | Steam handled refunds and sent a confirmation after processing, according to the shutdown notice and Sony support page. |
| Epic Games Store (PC) | Epic Games Store | Sony said Epic would contact purchasers to confirm processing. |
| Physical copy bought from another retailer | The retailer where you bought it | Follow that retailer’s refund process; Sony’s automatic digital-refund instructions do not apply. |
How long Sony-store refunds could take
For PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct purchases, Sony said a refund could take 30–60 days to appear on a bank statement. This estimate concerns the statement posting time, not a guarantee that every bank or payment method would process it on the same schedule.
What happened to access after a refund?
Firewalk’s shutdown announcement said refunded players would no longer have access to Concord. The official Concord Steam news archive also carried the shutdown notice and refund information.

Sony’s support page, reviewed October 8, 2026, still documents the 2024 shutdown and refund process. That page does not establish whether Sony later announced a return or an offline edition, so it should not be read as confirmation of either outcome.

No. A physical copy is not evidence that the online service remains available. The shutdown notice said the game would be taken offline; physical-copy purchasers were directed to seek refunds from their retailers. PlayStation’s earlier announcements describe the game and its physical editions, but they do not show that a disc restores access after the service was withdrawn.
