Condemned: Criminal Origins is the horror game behind reports that it disappeared from Steam and Xbox in October 2025. The reports did not establish why it was removed, and fan speculation about a remaster is not confirmation of one. Here’s what is known about the delisting, access for existing owners, and what makes the game stand out.
Which horror game was delisted from Steam and Xbox?
It was Condemned: Criminal Origins. PC Gamer and Bloody Disgusting reported on 31 October 2025 that the game had been removed from Steam and Xbox; Sector.sk reported the same on 1 November. PC Gamer also said it was not available on GOG at the time of its report. These are reports of the game’s availability then, not a live check of current storefront listings. Why was Condemned: Criminal Origins removed?
No reason had been announced in the reporting reviewed. The reports do not establish that the delisting was caused by expiring licenses, a rights dispute, or any other specific issue.
Some fans speculated that the removal might signal a remaster, but that remains speculation. PC Gamer’s Andy Chalk wrote: “There’s no answer currently forthcoming but quite a few people on social media are hoping it means a remaster is in order.” The quote describes the lack of an answer and fan hopes; it is not evidence that a remaster is planned. - Realistic first-person view: Gives players the maximum visceral effect.
- Next-generation lighting, mapping, and filtering: New graphics techniques provide for environments of unprecedented detail and visual quality.
- Intelligent enemies: Bad guys respond strategically to your offensive and defensive maneuvers.
- High-level physics: Allows players to manipulate background items, which respond realistically when picked up, kicked, or bumped.
- Fresh characters and plot: A tightly wound story is backed with strong character development and major plot twists.
Its distinctive mix is forensic procedure and resource-poor horror. Investigations include examining fingerprints and blood spatter, while ammunition is scarce and much of the fighting relies on melee weapons found in the environment. Horror Obsessive describes the atmosphere as decaying interiors and singles out a mannequin sequence that plays on uncertainty about what is moving. Those are the outlet’s characterizations, not a claim of universal critical consensus. Horror Obsessive
