Start with a compact hub, use chest reach to reduce unnecessary trips, then add paths, rooms, and decoration to suit how you play.
Start with a compact hub
Place a bed, a workbench, and storage near one another so the basics are easy to reach while you establish your base. A beginner guide identifies a bed and workbench among useful early placements; the compact arrangement is a practical layout suggestion, not a required room plan. Beginner guide
Keep the stations and items you use most often in this central area. As you collect more stations or take on additional activities, you can extend the base rather than trying to build every possible room at the start.
Arrange crafting stations around shared storage
In Core Keeper, nearby workbenches can use materials stored in a chest within 10 spaces, according to the game’s chest reference. That makes chest placement a functional part of the layout: put the materials a station needs close enough for it to draw from storage, instead of scattering relevant chests across the base. A player-created crafting-area guide describes the tenth block as included in the reach. Because that precision comes from a player guide, check the distance in your current game version if a layout depends on a chest being exactly at the limit. Steam Community guide, February 21, 2025
- Use one shared chest for stations that draw on similar materials, if keeping them together makes the area easier to manage.
- For separate crafting tasks, make a few small station-and-storage clusters rather than one sprawling work area.
- Keep commonly used ingredients near the stations that consume them; reserve less-used storage for other areas.
Leave room to grow
Build the starter area around what you currently use, but avoid filling every available space with furniture or storage. Leaving an open edge or a little clear floor makes it easier to add stations and chests as your base develops. This is a planning recommendation rather than a game rule.

- Lord Drakkon, an evil warlord from an alternate reality, is threatening Power Rangers across time and space!
- For 2-6 players. Ages 14+
- 45-60 minute playing time
When you add a new activity, decide whether it belongs in the central hub or would work better in its own nearby zone. A small processing, farming, or display area can keep the main crafting space from becoming difficult to navigate.
Make navigation easy to read
Paths and distinct work areas are optional design choices, but they can help you move through a larger base without searching for the right station. Community players have suggested using paths and separating functional areas; there is no single required layout. Steam Community discussion
