If Core Keeper keeps freezing, closing, or showing an error on PS5, work through these 10 checks in order. Start with the game and system updates, then test whether the problem follows one save or only happens online. These are PlayStation’s general troubleshooting steps—not a confirmed fix for a specific Core Keeper bug.
Before you start: identify the pattern
Note whether Core Keeper freezes in place, closes to the PS5 home screen, or displays an error code. Also record when it happens: at startup, in one world, during multiplayer, or after a particular action. Check whether other games crash, and whether you use a digital or disc copy. These details help distinguish a game-specific problem from a save, online, or wider console issue.
10 fixes for Core Keeper crashing on PS5
1. Record the error code
If an error appears, write down its exact code and look it up in PlayStation’s PS5 error-code hub. Different codes point to different issues. For example, CE-109573-5 concerns an error when starting a game; its troubleshooting sequence is not evidence of a Core Keeper-specific cause.
2. Restart the PS5 completely
Close Core Keeper, then restart the console from the PS5 power menu. Start the game again after the console has rebooted. Restarting is also the first step PlayStation lists for CE-109573-5.

5. Update PS5 system software
Open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings, then check for an update. PlayStation recommends keeping system software current when troubleshooting game crashes. Its system software support page has update guidance.
6. Test whether the crash follows one save
Try starting a new game without loading the existing world. If the new start works but one particular save repeatedly crashes, that pattern may indicate a save-specific problem; it does not prove the cause. Protect valuable saved data before testing. PlayStation’s general guidance suggests trying the game without an existing save to check for possible save corruption, but Fireshine’s support material does not provide Core Keeper-specific save recovery instructions.

7. Check whether the failure is online-only
Compare offline play with online play, and try another online game or service. If other online activity works but only Core Keeper’s online play fails, report that distinction to the publisher. An online-only failure is not, by itself, evidence that the PS5 is defective.
8. Delete and reinstall Core Keeper
If the earlier checks do not help, delete the game and reinstall it. Before removing it, consider whether your saved data is backed up or synced. Choose the option that removes the game application, not saved data. PlayStation includes reinstalling in its general guidance for persistent crashes and in its CE-109573-5 steps.

9. Try Safe Mode database options for CE-109573-5
If the error is CE-109573-5 and restarting and reinstalling have not resolved it, follow PlayStation’s instructions to start Safe Mode and choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database > Rebuild Database. If the issue continues, PlayStation’s guidance says to update system software in Safe Mode. Follow the current on-screen instructions carefully; do not select Reset PS5 as a substitute.
10. Contact the right support team
If Core Keeper alone continues to crash after these steps, contact Fireshine Games support or Pugstorm through the publisher’s support channels. Include the error code, PS5 model if known, whether the copy is digital or disc, whether the crash is online or save-specific, and steps that reproduce it. A short video can help show the failure.

| Several games crash | Investigate a broader console issue with PlayStation Support or Repairs. |
| Only one world or save triggers the crash | Compare with a fresh start, after protecting saved data. |

| An error code appears | Look up the exact code in PlayStation’s PS5 error-code hub and use the steps for that code. |
Protect your data when troubleshooting
Do not use a factory reset or reinstall PS5 system software as a routine fix for one game crashing. PlayStation warns that Reset PS5 deletes user data, and reinstalling system software deletes all data. Those are separate last-resort actions for broader console problems, not ordinary Core Keeper troubleshooting. If considering either, first make a verified backup and understand the data loss involved.
Are Core Keeper crashes a known PS5 bug?
Fireshine’s historical patch notes document PS5 menu, control, and interface fixes, including a fix for the main menu not appearing after disconnecting from the internet. Those notes show that platform-specific issues have existed; they do not establish that a particular issue remains in the current version or explain an individual crash. Fireshine’s support FAQ points players to Discord for the latest patch notes, but the materials cited here do not establish a current PS5 build number or a currently acknowledged Core Keeper crash bug.
