Cosmic Fantasy Collection is an Edia-published role-playing game collection for Nintendo Switch, bringing an older space RPG series to the console. Nintendo’s listing identifies the series’ historical calling card as animated scenes used to tell crucial story moments. The release is available as a digital download, and Limited Run Games also documents a region-free physical cartridge edition.
What is Cosmic Fantasy Collection?
Cosmic Fantasy Collection is a single-player Nintendo Switch RPG collection tied to the Cosmic Fantasy series. Nintendo’s North American listing names Edia as both publisher and developer; its UK listing identifies Edia as publisher. The North American store edition is digital.
Nintendo’s publisher-provided description says the original series appeared on PC Engine CD-ROM² and Mega CD from 1990 to 1994. It describes the games as among the early CD-ROM titles to use animation for crucial scenes. That is Nintendo’s historical framing, rather than an independently assessed ranking.
Why is the series associated with animated storytelling?
The animated sequences are the main historical feature Nintendo highlights: instead of limiting animation to incidental moments, the games used it to depict important scenes. Nintendo’s North American description calls the series “one of the first CD-ROM games to use animation to depict crucial scenes.” The page attributes that wording to the software description, not to a named individual.

Digital Nintendo Switch edition
Nintendo lists the collection as downloadable Switch software in North America, the UK, and Germany. Store offer details can vary by region and Nintendo Account settings, so check the storefront for your account before purchasing. The North American listing says the game’s behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch on Switch 2; this is Nintendo’s current compatibility note.
Physical Nintendo Switch cartridge
Limited Run Games documents a physical Nintendo Switch cartridge and describes it as region-free. Its product page establishes that a physical edition exists, but does not establish current stock or price. The Nintendo store pages describe the digital edition, not this cartridge.
