Possibly—but Microsoft has not confirmed that PlayStation’s PC games will run on its next Xbox. An October 2025 report said titles such as God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man could be played through PC storefronts. Microsoft later said its next-generation console, Project Helix, is designed to play Xbox console and PC games. That supports the broad possibility of PC gaming, but it does not confirm Steam, Epic Games Store or compatibility with any specific Sony game.
What the October 2025 report claimed
Insider Gaming reported on October 27, 2025 that PlayStation games released on PC could become playable on Microsoft’s next Xbox. The article attributed the claim to Windows Central reporter Jez Corden and named God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man.
The proposed route was to run the games’ PC versions through Steam or Epic Games Store—not to bring them out as Xbox-native releases. Insider Gaming also noted that the games might not support Xbox-specific features such as Gamerscore and Achievements. That was a caveat in the report, not a confirmed policy for Project Helix. What Microsoft has officially confirmed
On March 11, 2026, Xbox announced Project Helix, a next-generation first-party console in development. Xbox VP Jason Ronald said it is “designed to play your Xbox console and PC games.” Microsoft also said it plans to send alpha hardware to developers beginning in 2027. This is official confirmation of a broad PC-game capability, not a compatibility promise for every Windows game or PC storefront. Microsoft’s announcement did not name Steam, Epic Games Store, or the Sony games in the report. It also did not publish a title-by-title compatibility list.
How later reporting fits in
In a February 2, 2026 Windows Central feature, Corden reported that sources described the next Xbox as a full Windows PC with an interface designed for TV and controller use, and said it could install third-party stores including Steam, GOG and Epic. That remains reporting rather than a public Microsoft specification. The article said late 2027 at the earliest based on information available to Corden at publication; it was not a confirmed consumer launch date. Read the Windows Central feature.

What this means for the named PlayStation games
For God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man, the claim remains conditional: if Project Helix supports the relevant PC storefronts and each game works on its hardware and software, their PC versions could be playable there. None has been announced as an Xbox release, and Microsoft has not confirmed that any of them will run on Project Helix.
That distinction matters: playing a PC version from a storefront is different from receiving an Xbox port. Store access alone would not establish that a particular game is compatible, or that Xbox-native features such as Achievements are available.

|---|---|
| Is the next Xbox designed to play PC games? | Yes. Microsoft said Project Helix is designed for Xbox console and PC games in its March 11, 2026 announcement. |
| Has Microsoft confirmed Steam or Epic Games Store? | No. They appear in reporting, not in the official Project Helix announcement. |

| When will Project Helix launch? | Microsoft said developer alpha hardware is planned to begin shipping in 2027. It did not announce a retail release date. |
What to watch for next
A definitive answer will require Microsoft to clarify which PC storefronts Project Helix supports and publish compatibility information for individual games. Until then, the accurate takeaway is that PC-game support is part of Microsoft’s stated plan, while Steam or Epic access and the ability to play these specific PlayStation PC releases remain unconfirmed.
