Counter-Strike 2’s Premier Season Two began on January 28, 2025, after Valve previewed the transition four days earlier. It brought a recalibrated CS Rating, a new 10-win requirement to establish a rating, Train replacing Vertigo in Active Duty, and weapon balance changes. The season and its medal rules are historical, not a guide to current Premier rules.
It was announced in advance, then launched on January 28
Valve’s January 24, 2025 post, “Seasons Change”, said Season One would end the following week and outlined the transition, including a day of Premier downtime, rating recalibration, a map-pool change, and weapon adjustments. On January 28, Valve announced that Season Two was live and Premier matchmaking had resumed. The official timeline therefore describes a preview followed by a launch, rather than an unannounced surprise.
What changed for Premier players
CS Rating recalibration and requalification
At the transition, players’ CS Ratings were recalibrated using their Season One performance. Players then needed 10 Premier wins to re-establish a CS Rating. The 10 wins applied to rating requalification after recalibration; it was not the season’s medal threshold.
Train replaced Vertigo
Train entered the Active Duty map pool and Vertigo left. That was the map-pool change Valve identified for the season transition.

- AUG and SG: Scope dot adjusted for range use.
These were game balance changes included with the transition; Valve’s announcement did not describe them as separate season rewards.
Season Two medal eligibility and progress
Valve said Season Two would run through the Austin Major. To qualify for its medal, an account needed to be in good standing, earn at least 25 Premier wins, and have an active CS Rating at the end of the season. Medal color reflected the player’s highest CS Rating. The medal recorded one bar for each 25 wins, up to five bars.
