If Crime Scene Cleaner keeps crashing on your PC, there is no confirmed universal fix. First check that your computer meets the full game’s requirements, then try Steam’s file verification. If the crash happens while loading or rendering a scene, lower graphics settings and check for a graphics-driver update. These are troubleshooting steps suggested by players, not developer-confirmed cures; if they do not help, send the developer your system details and the game log when requested.
First, identify when the crash happens
Note whether the game closes at startup, while loading a particular level, or during gameplay. Record any error message and whether the problem began after a game update, driver change, or other recent change. This helps distinguish your symptom when you compare requirements or contact the developer.
This article covers the full PC game Crime Scene Cleaner, developed by President Studio and published by President Studio and PlayWay S.A. Steam lists its release date as August 14, 2024. It is not about the separate Crime Scene Cleaner: Prologue, which has different published requirements.
Check your PC against the full game’s Steam requirements
Compare your hardware and available storage with the requirements on the full game’s Steam listing. A shortfall is worth investigating, but the requirements alone cannot establish why a particular PC crashes.

Steam explicitly notes that integrated graphics are unsupported and that Intel ARC series may not yet be supported. If your PC uses either, that is a compatibility concern to include in a support report—not proof that it is the cause of your crash. Avoid buying hardware based only on a crash: first establish whether your system falls below a listed requirement and whether that component plausibly relates to the problem.
Try low-risk troubleshooting steps
The following steps have been suggested by players in Steam discussions. The reports describe individual situations and do not verify that these steps fix crashes generally.

- Verify the game files in Steam. In your Steam Library, right-click Crime Scene Cleaner, open Properties, select Installed Files, then choose Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam complete the check, then try launching the game again.
- Lower graphics settings if the crash is tied to loading or rendering. If you can reach the settings menu, reduce graphics quality and test the same level or scene that previously crashed. A player with a startup crash after a November 2025 hotfix reported improvement after lowering shadow quality, but that is one person’s observation, not a guaranteed remedy.
- Check your graphics driver. Look for an update through your PC maker’s or graphics-card maker’s official support channel. The player discussions mention driver updates as a suggestion; they do not establish that an outdated driver is the cause or that an update will resolve the issue.
A January 2025 Steam discussion describes a black-screen crash while loading level 2 and includes suggestions to verify files, lower settings, and update drivers. It is a single player report, not a diagnosis that applies to every crash.

The pinned Steam feedback thread asks players with issues such as crashes to email [email protected] with a detailed problem description and computer specifications. A developer reply in that thread also asks players to send the game’s log file. The pinned post originated during playtests, so follow the contact instructions there and attach the log when the developer requests it.

Include these details in your report so the developer can distinguish your case:
- Whether you have the full game or the Prologue, and the game version.
- Windows version, CPU, RAM, GPU, free storage, and graphics-driver version.
- When the crash occurs: at startup, while loading a named level, or during gameplay.
- The exact error text, if any, and what you were doing immediately before the crash.
- Recent changes, such as a game update or driver update, and which troubleshooting steps you have tried.
The game’s Windows log path shared in a Steam discussion is %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalLowPresident StudioCrimeCleanerPlayer.log. Attach it when contacting the developer through the channel they specify; if the file is not present at that path, say so rather than substituting a different file.
