Note your game version, PC configuration, graphics and upscaling settings, when the issue began, and whether it follows a particular action, location, weather condition, or update. Then check Pearl Abyss’s current Known Issues notice and the official patch announcements before changing settings. Known fixes are tied to specific versions and situations; they are not a universal performance fix.
First, distinguish the symptom
Different problems can look alike at a glance but point to different causes. Record the exact symptom and what was happening immediately before it started. That makes it easier to match your issue to a specific notice or patch rather than assuming your hardware is responsible.

- Crash to desktop: Note whether it happens at launch, when starting a new game, during a particular interaction, or at another repeatable point. Save any error message.
- Failure to launch: Record whether the game displays an error, closes silently, or never gets past a particular screen.
- Low FPS: Note whether the frame rate is consistently low or drops only in a certain area or situation.
- Intermittent stutter: Record when it occurs and whether it began after a game update or a change to graphics settings.
- Visual artifact: Describe what the image does and which upscaling option is active. An image distortion is not the same symptom as low FPS.
Also record your installed game version, platform update status, CPU, GPU, RAM, operating system, drive type and free space, graphics settings, and driver or other relevant software configuration.

Check the current known issues and patch notes
Before troubleshooting through settings changes, compare your symptom and game version with Pearl Abyss’s Known Issues notice and official announcement archive. Both can change as the game is updated. The Known Issues notice published September 18, 2026, said its list was last updated September 21, 2026 at 14:00 UTC; check the live page for any later status.

That notice identifies a particular visual problem with FSR4 upscaling in rainy environments: rain may disappear, or the image may become blurry or distorted. It also says that some cases where interaction with NPCs, mounts, or specific objects is unavailable may be temporarily resolved by restarting the game. These are limited, described situations—not evidence that every visual, interaction, or performance problem has the same cause.
Patch notes likewise show why the exact trigger and build matter:
- Version 2.03.01, dated September 21, 2026: lists a fix for a crash when interacting with NPCs in certain situations.
- Version 2.02.00, dated September 10, 2026: lists a fix for a crash when starting a new game with DLSS Frame Generation enabled.
- Version 2.03.00, dated September 17, 2026: describes bug fixes and stability improvements and an update to NVIDIA Streamline SDK 2.14.1 for DLSS Ray Reconstruction.
- Version 2.00.01, dated August 28, 2026: lists a frame-rate-drop fix in certain situations. Version 2.01.00, dated September 3, 2026: lists a fix for frame-rate drops near fences after placing outdoor furniture.
These examples establish that some crashes and frame-rate drops have been addressed in specific circumstances. They do not establish that your current issue has the same cause or that a listed fix will resolve every similar symptom.

Compare your PC with the published requirements
Steam’s PC listing gives these requirements. They are a baseline for checking your system, not a frame-rate promise.

See the current Steam listing for requirements that may have changed. Pearl Abyss’s March 10, 2026 performance notice says the latest DirectX 12 is required and cautions: “The performance figures shown are based on internal testing results. Performance may vary depending on your PC’s hardware and software configuration, as well as changes made to individual graphics settings.” The published requirements do not guarantee a particular FPS on a given PC.
If your PC is below a listed requirement, or the game is not installed on an SSD or lacks the required free space, those are concrete mismatches to investigate. The SSD requirement supports checking storage compliance; it does not show that buying an SSD will fix generic stutter, low FPS, or crashes. Avoid treating a component purchase as a remedy unless you have identified a relevant shortfall.

Use the symptom to choose your next check
If the game crashes
Check whether the crash occurs in one of the situations named in a patch note, such as starting a new game with DLSS Frame Generation enabled or interacting with an NPC. Confirm that the game is updated and read the note for the matching version. A similar trigger is useful evidence, but it does not prove the cause of a different crash.

If frame rate drops in a particular scene or situation
Record the location and action, then compare them with the dated patch notes. The listed fixes include particular frame-rate drops, not a general fix for all low-FPS reports. If no notice matches, keep the issue description specific rather than inferring a cause from the location alone.
If you see distortion with FSR4 in rain
Check the live Known Issues notice and any newer patch announcement before changing settings. The dated notice describes this artifact for FSR4 in rainy environments; it does not generalize the issue to other upscalers or establish a fix for unrelated stutter or low FPS.

If the problem is intermittent stutter or persistent low FPS
Compare your hardware and storage with the current requirements, record the graphics and upscaling settings, and note whether the problem began after an update or settings change. Pearl Abyss says performance varies with PC hardware, software, and individual graphics settings, but the official material does not establish a single setting change or universal remedy for these symptoms.
Prepare a useful issue report
If the issue persists and can be reproduced, include enough detail for someone else to distinguish it from a different crash or performance problem. Steam provides a technical issue support path; Pearl Abyss’s Known Issues notice also links to issue reporting.
