“ The program can’t start because crlinet.dll is missing from your computer,” “crlinet.dll was not found,” and “Error loading crlinet.dll” are common versions of the same problem. crlinet.dll is a Corel application file, so the correct fix is usually to repair or reinstall the affected CorelDRAW installation rather than download the DLL separately.
The 60-second answer
- Close Corel applications.
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Uninstall a program.
- Select the installed CorelDRAW suite.
- Click Repair, then follow the wizard.
- Restart Windows and test the same Corel executable again.
If Repair is unavailable, use the original Corel installer, your Corel account download, or legitimate installation media for the exact product and release. Do not copy a downloaded crlinet.dll into System32 or SysWOW64.

crlinet.dll is identified as Internet Protocol Library, part of CorelDRAW(R) and published by Corel Corporation. Public file inventories associate it with older CorelDRAW software and identify it as a 32-bit Win32 DLL, but those details are historical metadata rather than a current Corel compatibility specification.

What crlinet.dll is
crlinet.dll is a third-party application DLL used by Corel software. It is not a Windows system component and is not normally supplied by Windows Update.
#1 Best Overall
A legitimate copy should normally be in the affected Corel product’s own program directory. Windows generally searches an unpackaged application’s directory before system directories when loading its private DLLs. That is why putting a replacement in a global Windows folder can create a second problem: Corel may load the wrong version, or another application may find a file it was never designed to use.
Historical records associate the filename with older CorelDRAW releases, including CorelDRAW Graphics 10. Another historical document lists a copy under WordPerfect Office 11. These references do not prove that every Corel or WordPerfect installation contains the file. The important diagnostic question is which executable displays the error.
Check the exact failure before changing anything
Write down the following details from the error dialog:
- The full error wording
- The program name or executable shown in the dialog
- Whether the error appeared after an update, uninstall, cleanup, restore, or antivirus alert
- Whether the file is missing or the message says “specified module could not be found”
- The Corel product and release you are trying to start
- Whether only one Windows user account is affected
A message saying “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean crlinet.dll itself is absent. The file may exist while one of its dependencies is missing or incompatible. Repairing the Corel installation remains the correct first step.
Fix 1: Repair CorelDRAW from Control Panel
This is the most likely solution when a Corel file was deleted, damaged, or left behind by an incomplete update.
- Save your work and close Corel applications.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
text
appwiz.cpl
- Press Enter.
- Find the installed CorelDRAW suite or Corel product.
- Double-click it.
- Select Repair.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart Windows after the repair completes.
- Start the same Corel application that originally displayed the error.
Corel’s repair process is intended to reinstall missing or corrupt program components, shortcuts, and registry entries. It is safer than replacing one DLL because it restores the matching files and dependencies together.
If Repair is not listed
Older Corel releases may show Change, Modify, or an installer maintenance screen instead of a direct Repair button.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTry this:
- Open Control Panel → Uninstall a program.
- Select the Corel entry.
- Click Change or Modify.
- Look for Repair in the Corel setup program.
- If no repair option exists, cancel the wizard and locate the original installer.
- Run the installer and choose the option that preserves or repairs the existing installation.
If the installer requests source files, use the original disc, backed-up installer, or download associated with your legitimate Corel account. Do not point the installer at a random DLL archive.

How to tell whether repair worked
The repair succeeded if:
- Corel starts without the
crlinet.dllmessage - The same document or workspace opens normally
- No second missing-DLL dialog appears
- The program remains functional after a Windows restart
If the error changes to a different filename, record that filename. It may reveal another damaged dependency rather than proving that the repair failed completely.
Fix 2: Reinstall the exact Corel release
Reinstall Corel when Repair fails, the installation entry is damaged, or the original program was partially removed.
Before uninstalling, make sure you have:
- The correct Corel installer
- Your license or activation details
- Any required installation media
- Backups of custom workspaces, templates, brushes, and macros
Then:
- Open Control Panel → Uninstall a program.
- Select the affected Corel product.
- Choose Uninstall or Remove.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Run the installer for that same product and release.
- Complete setup using the default application location unless you have a specific reason to change it.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch Corel and test the operation that previously failed.
Do not assume that installing the newest CorelDRAW release will repair an older installation. A legacy application may require its own original files, licensing method, and dependencies.

After installation, use Corel’s official update channel only for patches intended for that exact release. Do not apply a patch merely because its product name looks similar.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine and the file path
Security software can quarantine an application DLL after an update or scan. Do not disable protection just to obtain a replacement file.
Check the security product’s quarantine or protection history:
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Click Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
crlinet.dllor the Corel installation directory. - Review the detected file path and action.
- If the file is clearly from your legitimate Corel installation, follow your security product’s documented restore process.
- Repair Corel immediately afterward so the installation is rebuilt consistently.
- Run another scan before launching the application.
Restore the file only when you can verify its source and the security product identifies the event as a false positive. If the file appeared in an unexpected folder, has a suspicious name variation, or repeatedly disappears, leave it quarantined and scan the computer.
Fix 4: Verify the Corel program directory
A legitimate copy of crlinet.dll should normally be alongside the Corel executable that needs it.
Rank #3
To inspect the installation:
- Right-click the Corel shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Click Open File Location.
- Look for
crlinet.dllin that folder. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Review the Details and Digital Signatures tabs if available.
Do not treat a file’s presence as proof that it is correct. A same-named DLL from another Corel release may be incompatible.
You can search for copies from File Explorer:
- Open File Explorer.
- Select This PC.
- Search for:
text
crlinet.dll
- Note every path returned.
- Give priority to the directory belonging to the executable that reports the error.
- Do not move or overwrite files until you have identified the affected installation.
If the file exists in the application folder but Corel still reports it as missing, the error may concern a dependency. Repair or reinstall Corel rather than copying the file elsewhere.
Fix 5: Reset Corel’s workspace if only one profile fails
If Corel works under another Windows account but fails under your normal profile, the installation may be intact while that user’s settings are damaged.
Corel documents resetting the workspace by holding F8 while starting the application.
- Close Corel completely.
- Hold F8.
- Start the affected Corel application.
- Confirm the workspace reset when prompted.
- Test the application.
This resets user settings. It does not restore a missing installation file, so use the Control Panel repair procedure if the crlinet.dll error continues.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and System File Checker repair protected Windows components. They do not normally restore a third-party Corel DLL, so use them when Windows itself is unstable, several unrelated applications report system-file problems, or Windows reports component corruption.
Open an elevated terminal:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command first:
bat
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

- Then run:
bat
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows and test Corel again.
Do not close the window while either scan is running. If DISM reports that it could not complete, restart Windows and run it again from an administrator Command Prompt. If SFC reports that it found and repaired corrupted files, restart before testing.
Outbyte PC Repair can reduce the manual work of repeating SFC and DISM and comparing their results; its free scan shows detected problems, while repair is performed by the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling the affected Corel product remains the definitive fix for a missing Corel-owned DLL.
Fix 7: Update Windows and investigate drivers only when symptoms point there
A graphics driver issue can cause Corel to crash, display incorrectly, or fail after startup, but there is no evidence that a particular Windows driver supplies crlinet.dll. Do not treat a driver update as a substitute for Corel repair.
Rank #4
Use Windows Update first:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
To inspect drivers:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Review the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update Driver only when an update is available from a trusted source.
- Restart and test Corel.
If the problem began immediately after a driver update, use Properties → Driver → Roll Back Driver when that button is available. Avoid changing unrelated devices simply because the application reports a DLL error.

Do not use regsvr32 as a routine fix
regsvr32 registers DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is mainly relevant to self-registering COM components.
A normal application library does not automatically need registration. Running:
regsvr32 crlinet.dll
is therefore not a general repair method for this error. If Windows reports that DllRegisterServer is missing, that usually means the DLL is not a self-registering COM component. It does not prove that the file is corrupt.

Avoid downloading crlinet.dll from random DLL websites or copying it into:
C:WindowsSystem32
or:
C:WindowsSysWOW64
That approach can fail because:
- The file may contain malware
- The version may belong to another Corel release
- The architecture may be wrong
- The DLL may require dependencies that are still missing
- Windows may load the wrong copy from an unintended directory
- The file may not match the installed Corel executable
The safe sources are the original Corel installer, legitimate Corel account downloads, original installation media, or Corel Support for a legacy product. Windows repair tools should come from Microsoft, not from DLL download pages.
32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
A 64-bit Windows installation can run many 32-bit applications. That does not mean a 64-bit replacement DLL is appropriate.
Best Value
Public metadata for crlinet.dll identifies a 32-bit Win32 file, while other inventories provide conflicting or ambiguous architecture information. Treat those listings as clues, not as an official Corel architecture table.
Use the file supplied by the exact Corel installer. Do not select a 64-bit DLL merely because Windows is 64-bit, and do not mix files from different Corel releases.
If the error remains after repair
Work through this escalation checklist:
- Confirm the exact Corel executable in the error dialog.
- Confirm that you repaired the matching product, not a different Corel suite.
- Search for every copy of
crlinet.dll. - Check whether antivirus quarantined the file again.
- Run the Corel installer’s Repair option a second time if it completed with warnings.
- Look for a second missing DLL named in a follow-up dialog.
- Test Corel under another Windows user profile.
- Reset the Corel workspace with F8.
- Run DISM and SFC if Windows shows broader corruption.
- Reinstall the exact Corel release from trusted media.
- Scan the system if the file keeps disappearing or appears outside the Corel directory.
- Contact Corel Support if activation, installer media, or a legacy release prevents reinstallation.
System Restore can help if the problem began immediately after a known system change, but it is not the preferred first-line solution for a missing application DLL.
Frequently asked questions
Is crlinet.dll a Windows file?
No. Available file metadata identifies it as an Internet Protocol Library associated with CorelDRAW(R) and Corel Corporation. It should not normally be installed as a Windows system DLL.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Which Corel program uses crlinet.dll?
The documented product label is CorelDRAW(R). Historical records also reference older CorelDRAW and WordPerfect paths, but those records do not prove that every release uses the file.
Should I download crlinet.dll separately?
No. Use Corel’s Repair option or reinstall the exact Corel product and release. A downloaded DLL may be malicious, mismatched, or unable to resolve a missing dependency.
Should I put it in System32?
No. crlinet.dll is application-specific. Place files only through the legitimate Corel installer.
Will regsvr32 fix the problem?
Usually not. regsvr32 is for DLLs that expose registration functions. A typical Corel application library is loaded by the program and does not need routine COM registration.
Will Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET restore the file?
There is no verified evidence tying this filename specifically to one of those redistributables. Repair the Corel installation first rather than installing unrelated runtimes.
Does this error prove that Windows 11 or Windows 10 is unsupported?
No. The error only proves that the application could not load the file or one of its dependencies. A legacy Corel release may still have compatibility limitations, but the DLL message alone cannot establish official support.
What if the file exists but the error continues?
Repair Corel anyway. The message may refer to a missing dependency, an incompatible version, a blocked file, or a different executable loading another copy. Identify the executable and inspect the application directory before making changes.
