crlpdfimport.dll is a Corel PDF Import Filter used by Corel software, not a Windows system DLL. When Windows reports that crlpdfimport.dll is missing, was not found, corrupted, or could not be loaded, repair the Corel installation that needs it instead of downloading a replacement DLL.
The safest order is:
- Identify the Corel program producing the error.
- Run its built-in repair option.
- Reinstall the exact Corel edition if repair fails.
- Check Windows Security quarantine.
- Investigate dependencies, Windows corruption, and architecture mismatches only if the Corel repair does not solve the problem.
What crlpdfimport.dll does
crlpdfimport.dll is associated with Corel Common Framework and is described as the Corel PDF Import Filter. Corel Corporation is listed as its publisher. CorelDRAW uses PDF import functionality to open or place PDF content, so the component may be loaded when Corel starts, opens a document, or imports a PDF.

C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- another unrelated application’s folder
The correct location is normally inside the Corel installation directory. The exact path depends on the Corel product, release, edition, and architecture. A 64-bit Corel installation may use a folder such as Filters64, while older or 32-bit installations may use a different application folder.

Public file records show that materially different historical copies exist. An older record describes a 32-bit Corel Common Framework file, while another describes a 64-bit Corel Graphics Applications file associated with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2019. Do not treat either record as a universal version for every Corel product.
What the error message means
Different Windows loader messages point to slightly different failure conditions:
- “CRLPDFImport.dll was not found” usually means Windows could not locate the file in the application’s expected search paths.
- “The file CRLPDFImport.dll is missing or corrupt” means the file may be absent, damaged, blocked, or incompatible.
- “A required component is missing” generally indicates an incomplete or damaged Corel installation.
- “Error loading CRLPDFImport.dll” can mean the file exists but cannot initialize.
- “The specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency of
crlpdfimport.dll, not necessarily the named file itself. - “Failed to load CRLPDFImport.dll” is a general loading failure.
- “Not designed to run on Windows” commonly indicates corruption, an incompatible binary, or a mismatched companion file.
- “Access Violation” may indicate a crash while the filter is processing data, rather than a simple missing-file problem.
If the error appears only when opening one PDF, the PDF itself may be malformed, protected, or use features that the installed Corel version cannot import. If every Corel document triggers the message, a damaged installation or missing dependency is more likely.
Fix 1: Repair the Corel installation
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
Repair is the best first step because it restores the correct DLL, related PDF filters, registry information, and application dependencies together.
- Close CorelDRAW and all other Corel applications.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps.
- Search for Corel or the affected Corel product.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the product.
- Choose Modify, Repair, or Change, depending on what is displayed.
- Follow the Corel maintenance wizard.
- Allow the repair to complete.
- Restart Windows again.
- Open Corel and test both startup and PDF import.
On some Windows installations, use the older Control Panel route:
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select the relevant Corel product.
- Choose Change or Modify.
- Select Repair if the installer offers it.
- Complete the wizard and restart Windows.
How to tell whether repair worked
Repair succeeded if:
- Corel starts without the
crlpdfimport.dllmessage. - The application can open or import a test PDF.
- The expected Corel installation folder contains the restored component.
- The error does not return after another restart.
If no repair option is available, or the repair ends with an error, continue with a clean reinstall.
Fix 2: Reinstall the exact Corel product
Time needed: 20–45 minutes
A reinstall is the definitive fix when the Corel installation is incomplete, mixed with files from another release, or damaged beyond what maintenance mode can repair.

Before uninstalling, back up:
- Custom workspaces
- Templates
- Presets
- Macros
- Fonts installed specifically for your Corel workflow
- Any project files stored in Corel-specific folders
Then follow these steps:
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected Corel product.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Complete the Corel uninstaller.
- Restart Windows.
- Sign in to your Corel account or open the official Corel download page.
- Download the installer for the exact product edition and release you own.
- If the installer offers an architecture choice, select the architecture matching the application you intend to run.
- Install Corel using the official installer.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch Corel and test PDF import.
Do not install a DLL copied from another Corel release. A file can have the correct name but still be incompatible with the executable, companion filters, or supporting libraries installed on your system.
Match 32-bit and 64-bit components
A 32-bit Corel application and a 64-bit Corel application do not use interchangeable application binaries. The same filename can exist in different product generations with different architecture, version, size, and dependencies.

To check the installed application:
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps and note the exact product name.
- Check the installer or product documentation for whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- In File Explorer, right-click the Corel executable and choose Properties.
- Review the product and details information available on the Details tab.
- Use the matching official installer rather than combining files manually.
On 64-bit Windows, System32 generally contains 64-bit system components and SysWOW64 contains 32-bit system components. That naming can be confusing, but neither folder is the correct destination for a Corel application DLL.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Windows Security or another antivirus product may quarantine a Corel DLL after detecting a suspected threat or false positive. Reinstalling Corel is usually safer than restoring an isolated file manually, but first check whether security software removed it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Open any detection that references Corel or the missing DLL.
- Check the original file path, detection name, publisher information, and action taken.
Do not restore the file merely because its name matches the error. Verify that:
- The original path was inside the legitimate Corel installation directory.
- The file belongs to the Corel product you installed.
- The Corel installation came from an official installer.
- The publisher and signature information are consistent with Corel.
If the file was quarantined, the safer sequence is:
- Record the detection details.
- Remove or repair the Corel installation.
- Download a fresh installer from your official Corel account.
- Install Corel again.
- Update antivirus definitions.
- Submit the suspected false positive to the antivirus vendor if the clean installer is detected again.
Microsoft explains that restoring quarantined files can cause Windows Security to detect them again. Review the Protection History guidance before allowing a file.
Fix 4: Confirm that a dependency is not the real problem
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A loader message naming crlpdfimport.dll does not always mean that this file is absent. Windows may find the DLL but fail to load one of the libraries it requires. This commonly produces wording such as “The specified module could not be found.”
Look for a separately named missing file in the full error message. Examples include:
VCRUNTIME140.dllMSVCP140.dll- Another Corel DLL
- A graphics or printing component
Repair Corel first. If the message specifically identifies a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, install the matching Microsoft-supported package from the latest Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.
Install the architecture that matches the application requiring it. Installing Visual C++ does not replace crlpdfimport.dll, because crlpdfimport.dll is a Corel application component rather than a Microsoft runtime file.

Fix 5: Run DISM and System File Checker when Windows is also damaged
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components. They do not normally restore a missing third-party Corel DLL, so use them when other Windows features are failing, the Corel installer will not run, or the problem began alongside broader system corruption.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the Corel repair or reinstall.
Microsoft recommends installing available Windows updates and restarting before running these checks. Follow the Microsoft SFC and DISM instructions if either command reports an error.
Outbyte PC Repair can reduce the guesswork involved in repeatedly hunting for damaged Windows components and rerunning SFC or DISM without knowing what changed; its free scan identifies reported problems, while repair features require the full version.
If SFC and DISM report that Windows is healthy but Corel still reports the missing DLL, return to the Corel repair or reinstall. These commands are not a substitute for restoring the correct application files.
Fix 6: Check drivers only when the error involves graphics or printing
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
A graphics driver or printer driver is not the normal source of a missing crlpdfimport.dll error. Driver maintenance becomes relevant when Corel crashes during rendering, displays corrupted PDF content, or fails after a graphics or printer change.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Update a graphics driver
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
For a printer-related PDF workflow, expand Printers or Print queues, right-click the affected printer, and select Update driver. You can also obtain the driver from the printer or graphics hardware manufacturer’s official support channel.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of identifying which of several installed drivers is stale; its free scan reports driver issues, while driver installation features require the full version.
If updating the driver does not change the missing-DLL message, stop treating the problem as a driver issue and repair Corel instead.
Fix 7: Test whether one PDF is the trigger
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If Corel starts normally but fails with one document:
- Copy the PDF to a local folder such as Documents.
- Rename the copy using simple letters and numbers.
- Confirm that the file opens in another trusted PDF viewer.
- Try importing a different PDF into Corel.
- If possible, export the source document to a simpler PDF.
- Test the simplified copy.
A single PDF can contain unsupported, malformed, protected, or complex content. Corel’s PDF import documentation describes limitations involving features such as portfolios, multimedia, and digital signatures. If other PDFs work, the DLL may be functioning correctly and the issue may be limited to that document.
Fix 8: Use System Restore after a recent system change
Time needed: 20–40 minutes
System Restore can help if the error began immediately after installing software, applying an update, or changing system components and a restore point exists.

Why regsvr32 usually does not apply
Do not run regsvr32 crlpdfimport.dll as a general repair step.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a universal command for copying, repairing, or loading every DLL. A Corel PDF import filter may not provide the registration entry point required by regsvr32.
A failed command may produce an entry-point or DllRegisterServer error. That does not prove that the DLL is missing. It only means the command is not appropriate for that file or operation. Microsoft documents the command’s purpose and syntax in its regsvr32 documentation.
Avoid manual DLL replacement
Downloading crlpdfimport.dll from an unofficial file site is risky because the file may contain malware, belong to a different Corel release, use the wrong architecture, or require companion files that are also absent. Copying it into System32 or SysWOW64 can create additional conflicts without repairing the Corel installation.
Use these sources instead:
- The official Corel installer associated with your account
- The official Corel product download page
- The Corel repair or maintenance option
- Microsoft pages for Windows components and Microsoft runtimes
If the correct Corel installer cannot restore the file, contact Corel Support rather than mixing files from different products.

If the error returns after repair
If repair works temporarily and the error returns:
- Note whether it happens at startup or only during PDF import.
- Check whether antivirus quarantined the file again.
- Confirm that only one Corel release is installed or being launched.
- Check the full DLL path shown in the error.
- Verify the installed product architecture.
- Test with a different PDF.
- Run a full or offline Microsoft Defender scan.
- Check disk health if files are repeatedly disappearing or becoming corrupt.
- Avoid restoring DLLs from another computer.
- Contact Corel Support with the collected evidence.
Microsoft provides instructions for Defender Offline scanning.
Information to collect for Corel Support
Provide:
- The exact Corel product and edition
- The product version shown in its About window or installer
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 and its system architecture
- The complete error message
- Whether the failure occurs at startup or only during PDF import
- The full path named in the error
- Whether repair completed successfully
- Whether reinstalling changed the message
- Any Windows Security quarantine record
- The result of DISM and
sfc /scannow - Whether the problem affects every PDF or only one file
This information helps Support distinguish an absent Corel file from a dependency failure, quarantine event, architecture mismatch, or document-specific import problem.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Should I download the missing DLL?
No. Repair or reinstall the Corel product that installed it. An unrelated copy may be unsafe or incompatible.
Does Visual C++ Redistributable fix this file?
No. Visual C++ may help only when the error separately names a missing Microsoft runtime such as VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll.
Should I copy the file to System32?
No. Corel application DLLs belong with the Corel application that loads them.
Should I use regsvr32?
Usually not. regsvr32 is for DLL registration, not general DLL repair, and it may fail because this filter does not expose the required registration entry point.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Why does the error mention a module when the DLL is present?
The named DLL may depend on another file that Windows cannot load. Repairing Corel restores the complete set of compatible files and is safer than replacing one component manually.
What if only one PDF causes the crash?
Test another PDF. The problem may be malformed, protected, or unsupported PDF content rather than a missing Corel component.
Is the file malware?
The filename is associated with legitimate Corel software, but any individual copy must be judged by its location, publisher, signature, and installation source. If antivirus quarantined it, review the detection and reinstall Corel from its official installer.
