crmofficeaddin.dll is an Exact Globe client component, not a Windows system DLL, so reinstalling the correct Globe client is usually safer than replacing the file. If Windows reports that crmofficeaddin.dll is missing, not found, or could not be loaded, repair the Exact installation that owns it rather than downloading a replacement.
What this file actually does
Exact documents crmofficeaddin.dll as part of the legacy Exact Globe client, used for the product’s Office or Outlook integration. Its documented location is:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
C:Program Files (x86)Exact Softwarebincrmofficeaddin.dll
The directly documented installation error is:
Failed to register C:program files (x86)exact softwarebincrmofficeaddin.dll
That message means the Globe installer found the component but could not complete its registration with Windows. The problem may involve an incomplete installation, stale Exact registry entries, incorrect MSI or MSP packages, blocked files, permissions, or a 32-bit and 64-bit mismatch.

Exact’s newer Globe+ Outlook integration uses a web add-in and tools including OfficeAddinConfigurator.exe. If your organization uses Globe+, do not assume that the legacy DLL repair steps apply.
Match the symptom to the likely cause
| What you see | Most likely explanation | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| “Failed to register” during setup | Broken or conflicting Globe installation | Remove and reinstall Globe |
| File is missing from the Exact folder | Incomplete installation or antivirus quarantine | Check Protection History, then reinstall |
| Error began after an upgrade | Mismatched MSI or MSP update | Obtain the matching Globe packages |
| Every workstation shows the error | Shared deployment or installer problem | Ask the Exact administrator to check the source |
| Only Outlook integration fails | Office architecture or add-in configuration issue | Check Office bitness and Globe support |
| Error appears after uninstalling Globe | The owning product was removed | Reinstall Globe only if it is still required |
| File exists but registration still fails | Dependencies, permissions, architecture, or stale registry data | Perform a clean Globe reinstall |
| Organization uses Globe+ | Different, newer web-add-in architecture | Follow the Globe+ deployment procedure |
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the Exact Globe client
This is the primary repair because it replaces the complete product and allows the installer to register the component with the correct files and dependencies.
Before uninstalling
- Save your work and close Exact Globe, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
- Ask your Exact administrator whether the workstation uses a local installation or a network workstation installation.
- Confirm that the organization has the correct Globe release and product update packages.
- Do not delete registry entries or shared folders until you have confirmed that no other Exact product depends on them.
Uninstall Globe
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - In Programs and Features, select the Exact Globe or Globe client entry.
- Select Uninstall or Change, then follow the setup wizard.
- Restart Windows when the uninstall finishes.
On Windows 11, you can also open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select the Exact entry, choose the three-dot menu, and select Uninstall. If the product is managed by your organization, the removal may need to be performed by IT.
Remove documented Exact remnants
Exact’s installation guidance calls for cleaning up relevant leftover Exact registry entries and removing the Exact Shared folder if it remains. The folder is:
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesExact Shared
Registry editing can damage other Exact products or Windows if the wrong keys are removed.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
regeditand press Enter. - Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Before changing anything, select File > Export.
- Save a backup of the registry.
- Remove only the Exact registry entries identified in Exact’s installation procedure or by your administrator.
- In File Explorer, check whether
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesExact Sharedremains. - Remove that folder only when the Exact documentation or your administrator confirms it is safe.
- Restart Windows.
Do not use a general registry-cleaner utility. It cannot determine which Exact entries are required by your organization’s other products.
Reinstall from the authorized source
Exact’s MSI and MSP documentation describes obtaining the appropriate packages through the Exact customer portal. The correct files depend on your licensed Globe release and product update.
- Obtain the full Exact Globe MSI and the matching product-update MSP from your organization’s Exact administrator or authorized Exact customer portal.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Install the base Globe MSI first if the deployment instructions require it.
- Apply the matching MSP update.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Exact Globe and test the Outlook or Office integration.
If the workstation is installed from a network share, use the organization’s deployment instructions rather than copying crmofficeaddin.dll from another computer. Exact also documents network workstation installations using Exact Globe.msi and msiexec; the installation source, target directory, and release must match the company’s deployment plan.

How to tell whether it worked
The repair succeeded when:
- Setup completes without the registration error.
crmofficeaddin.dllis present under the documented Exactbinfolder.- Exact Globe opens normally.
- The expected Office or Outlook integration works.
If the same registration error returns during a clean reinstall, stop repeating the installer. Check the installer release, product update, deployment source, Office architecture, antivirus history, and permissions.
Fix 2: Confirm the installer and Office architecture
The documented path is under Program Files (x86), so the known installation is a 32-bit client. That does not by itself establish support for every Office or Windows configuration.
Check whether Office is 32-bit or 64-bit
For Microsoft 365 or Office:
- Open Word or Excel.
- Select File > Account.
- Select About Word or About Excel.
- Read the bitness shown in the About window.
For older Office versions:
- Open an Office application.
- Select File > Help.
- Check the product information for 32-bit or 64-bit.
Record this information for your Exact administrator. Do not switch Office architecture solely to fix this DLL unless the organization confirms that its Globe release supports the change.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Check the Windows architecture
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Look at System type.
- Record whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
A 64-bit version of Windows can run many 32-bit applications, but native DLL registration and Office integration still depend on the product’s supported configuration. There is no verified public compatibility matrix covering every Globe release, Windows version, and Office architecture.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can quarantine or block an unfamiliar legacy business-application component. That does not prove the file is malicious, and the file should not be restored simply because its name matches the error.
Check Microsoft Defender Protection History
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections for the Exact installation folder.
- If
crmofficeaddin.dllappears, record the detection name and action. - Contact your Exact administrator or security team to verify the installer’s origin and signature.
- Restore or allow the file only when the organization confirms that it came from the authorized Exact package.
- Reinstall Globe from that official package instead of restoring an unknown copy whenever possible.
If a security product blocks the installer repeatedly, do not disable protection permanently. Have IT review the detection and create any necessary organizational exception after validating the package.
Fix 4: Do not start with manual regsvr32
Microsoft describes regsvr32.exe as a utility for registering OLE controls, ActiveX controls, and self-registering DLLs. It is not a universal repair command.

Exact’s documented remedy for this file is to remove and reinstall the Globe client. Exact does not publish a supported standalone command such as:

regsvr32 crmofficeaddin.dll
Running the wrong regsvr32 version can produce another architecture error, and a DLL that lacks the required registration entry point will fail instead of being repaired.
Use manual registration only when Exact support or your organization’s deployment instructions explicitly require it. If instructed to do so, ask which regsvr32.exe version, working directory, elevation level, and command line apply to your Globe release. Do not run both the 32-bit and 64-bit tools indiscriminately.
Fix 5: Test permissions and the deployment context
A workstation installation may fail when setup lacks permission to write to program folders or registry locations.
- Sign in with an account approved to install Exact Globe.
- Close all Exact and Office applications.
- Right-click the authorized Globe installer.
- Select Run as administrator.
- If the installation is launched from a network share, verify that the account can read the share and write to the required local installation locations.
- Ask IT whether the workstation uses a deployment transform, network MSI, or managed software policy.
- Retry the installation using the organization’s supported deployment method.
If every workstation fails, the shared MSI, MSP, transform, or server-side source is more suspicious than individual Windows installations. If only one Windows profile fails, test with another authorized profile, but treat profile-specific add-in settings as a possibility rather than a confirmed cause for this DLL.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components only when other symptoms support it
Because crmofficeaddin.dll is an application file, Windows component repair is not the first-line solution. It becomes reasonable when other installers and Windows features are also failing.
First install pending Windows updates and restart:
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart the computer.
Then run DISM followed by SFC:
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the authorized Globe installer.
Success means DISM and SFC complete, and the Globe installation proceeds. If SFC reports no integrity violations, that is unsurprising because this DLL is not established as a protected Windows system file.
Repeatedly running these commands without checking the Exact installer will not repair a wrong MSI, stale Exact registry entries, or an incompatible Globe deployment. If you want to avoid manually comparing component errors and repair results, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported Windows problems; its free scan identifies issues, while repair is performed by the full version. Reinstalling Exact Globe remains the definitive fix when this specific application component is damaged.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix 7: Update drivers only when the evidence points there
A display, chipset, or Office-related driver is not the normal cause of an Exact DLL registration failure. Consider driver work only if Windows reports broader hardware, graphics, or installer problems.
To check Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the category related to the reported hardware.
- Right-click the device and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Record the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update driver only through your organization’s approved source.
- Restart Windows and test Globe again.
Do not replace drivers merely because the DLL error names an Office integration component. If identifying outdated drivers manually across several devices is the problem, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify driver issues; the free scan shows what it finds, while installation is handled by the full version. This does not replace obtaining the correct Exact Globe installer.

Exact Globe versus Globe+
Before escalating, confirm which product your organization uses.
Legacy Exact Globe uses the native client installation associated with the documented crmofficeaddin.dll path. Globe+ documentation describes a newer Outlook web-add-in model involving Office add-in deployment, IIS, and OfficeAddinConfigurator.exe.
If your organization uses Globe+, follow its Globe+ setup and deployment documentation instead of trying to restore this legacy DLL. Installing the old client merely to make the file appear can create a second, incompatible installation.
When to contact IT or Exact support
Escalate with these details:
- The exact error text.
- Whether it happened during a fresh install, upgrade, repair, or workstation deployment.
- The licensed Globe release and product update.
- Whether the issue affects one workstation or all workstations.
- Whether Office is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Whether the file exists at the documented Exact path.
- Any antivirus detection or quarantine record.
- The MSI or MSP installation log, if your administrator can provide it.
- Whether the organization uses legacy Globe or Globe+.
Contact your internal administrator first when the installer, registry cleanup, network share, Office architecture, or licensing is managed centrally. Contact Exact support when a clean installation from the verified matching packages still fails or when the release-specific registration procedure is unclear.
FAQ
Is crmofficeaddin.dll a Windows file?
No evidence supports that. Exact documents it as an Exact Globe client component under the Exact installation directory.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Should I download the missing DLL?
No. Use the authorized Exact Globe installer. A standalone download can be unsafe and may not match the installed release or architecture.
Does the file belong in System32?
No. The documented location is:
C:Program Files (x86)Exact Softwarebincrmofficeaddin.dll
Will regsvr32 fix it?
Not necessarily. Registration is involved in the documented error, but Exact’s supported repair is reinstalling the Globe client. Use manual registration only under explicit Exact or administrator instructions.
Why does the file still fail when it exists?
File presence does not prove that registration succeeded. The installation may have stale registry entries, missing dependencies, incorrect architecture, blocked access, or mismatched MSI and MSP packages.
What if the file disappeared after uninstalling Exact Globe?
That is expected. Reinstall Globe only if the organization still needs the client or its Office integration.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Is SFC the right fix?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while this DLL is associated with Exact Globe. Use SFC and DISM as secondary checks when broader Windows corruption is also evident.
