What can be assessed is the Platinum Edition’s scope: it retains the original gameplay, adds presentation and control updates, and includes a Time Attack mode and an expanded digital museum called Crocipedia.
What is Croc: Legend of the Gobbos?
Argonaut describes the remaster as the original adventure with enhanced HD graphics, updated control mechanics and camera, plus retro video modes. The game follows Croc as he runs, jumps, climbs, swims and tail-spins through a quest to rescue the Gobbos from Baron Dante. According to the studio, it contains 45 levels across five worlds, including volcanoes, ice glaciers and underwater caves. Argonaut’s official Croc Remaster page establishes those features and scope, but they are publisher descriptions, not independent evidence of how well the game plays or runs.

How does the remaster play?
The key review question is whether the revised controls and camera make Croc’s platforming more comfortable without changing the character of the original. The official feature list confirms that both have been updated, but does not describe their feel or performance. The same distinction applies to the HD graphics and retro video modes: their presence is documented, while their execution and appeal depend on playing the game.
For that reason, this is not a substitute for a hands-on judgment of platforming, difficulty, camera behavior, bugs or performance. It would be misleading to call the controls improved in practice, or to recommend a particular video mode, without evidence from play.

Why Crocipedia matters
Crocipedia is a digital museum of material from the game’s development and release history. Argonaut says it includes concept designs for characters and levels, animation tests, design documents, rare promotional merchandise, early soundtrack mixes and documentary interviews with contributors. Platinum Edition adds more than 25 items. That archival collection gives the release an added point of interest for longtime fans and readers curious about how the game was made, beyond its playable levels.
Which platforms is Croc: Legend of the Gobbos on?
Argonaut’s FAQ lists Steam, GOG, PlayStation, Switch and Xbox as platforms for Platinum Edition. The Steam listing identifies the PC release date as 17 October 2025; the PlayStation Store listing identifies PS4 and PS5 and gives a 16 October 2025 release date. Those dates differ by platform.

Updating an existing copy
Argonaut says previously purchased copies update automatically on platforms other than PlayStation. On PS4 and PS5, owners need to download the Platinum Edition version from the PlayStation Store; the FAQ says it is free for people who previously bought Croc for PS4 or PS5. Check the store account and platform-specific details if the edition does not appear as expected.
Physical PS5 and Switch editions
Argonaut’s official page lists physical Platinum Editions for PS5 and Switch and links to Amazon US and specialist retailers. That listing does not establish current stock or delivery timing, so check the retailer’s live product page before ordering. Rock It Games’ update dated 16 January 2026 described delays and production milestones for standard and collector editions. Its listed collector-edition contents included a disc or cartridge, soundtrack CD, statue, poster, keychain, sticker sheet, printed manual and certificate of authenticity; it also mentioned Gobbo plush orders and T-shirts. Those details do not confirm what is currently available or when an order will ship. Read the January 2026 update from Rock It Games.

What are the PC requirements?
Steam lists these minimum requirements for PC:
- Windows 10.
- 64-bit processor and operating system.
- 16 GB RAM.
- 35 GB available storage.
The recommended-requirements section in the listing material specifies only a 64-bit processor and operating system, so it does not provide a complete recommended hardware profile. See the Steam store page for the listing.
Is Platinum Edition worth revisiting?
On documented features alone, Platinum Edition is a more substantial package than a simple visual refresh: it adds a challenge mode, soundtrack choices, fixes and quality-of-life changes, while expanding Crocipedia’s historical archive. Whether the modernized controls and camera make the platforming enjoyable—and whether the presentation modes suit your taste—cannot be settled by the feature list. If those play qualities are your deciding factor, look for an independent hands-on review or try the game on your preferred platform before buying.
