The original headline premise is outdated. It is also available on GOG, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox; what differs by storefront is the included content, while physical-edition availability remains less certain.
When did the Croc remaster come to Steam?
Valve’s Steam listing gives the release date as October 17, 2025, and names Argonaut Games as publisher, with Titanium Studios and Big Boat Interactive as developers. What does the Steam remaster include?
The Steam page describes a remastered version of the 1997 3D platform game. Its listed content and features include:
- 45 levels across five worlds, including volcanoes, ice glaciers, and underwater caves.
- Updated HD graphics, modernized controls and camera, and retro video modes.
- Crocipedia, a digital museum about the game.
- Single-player, Steam achievements, trading cards, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing.
These are Steam’s listed features; Argonaut notes that some Platinum Edition features can vary by platform.

Where can you play the remaster?
Argonaut confirms digital releases on Steam and GOG for PC, as well as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Argonaut’s game page lists the platform options.
GOG includes the original Croc Classic
Argonaut says a purchase of the remaster on GOG includes Croc Classic, the original PC game. The official information does not say that the Steam purchase includes Croc Classic, so choose GOG if that bundle is important to you. Argonaut’s update also describes the classic as a GOG gift-with-purchase.

Platinum Edition is a free update
Argonaut describes Platinum Edition as a significant free update to the remaster. It adds Time Attack mode and more than 25 Crocipedia additions, along with theme-mix toggles, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. Features such as achievements or trophies can differ because of platform restrictions. See Argonaut’s FAQ for update details.
Argonaut says most owners receive the update automatically. On PlayStation, owners who previously purchased the PS4 or PS5 version need to download the Platinum Edition version from PlayStation Store at no charge.

Can you buy a physical edition?
Argonaut’s FAQ says the 2024 Rock It Games preorder has closed. In its January 2026 update, the publisher acknowledged that physical editions missed their intended ship date. Argonaut attributed the delay to production delays and the decision to manufacture updated Platinum Edition discs and cartridges, which required further Sony and Nintendo submissions and approvals. The update said regular and Collector’s Editions were expected to come soon, but did not provide a dependable delivery date.
Argonaut’s game page lists Platinum Edition physical versions for PS5 and Switch and names Video Games Plus, Rock It Games, and Amazon US as retailers. A listing does not establish current stock or a shipping date, so check the retailer’s live product page before ordering. Check Argonaut’s physical-edition listings.

Do not confuse this with the Croc 2 remaster
The first game’s remaster is already released. Argonaut’s October 1, 2026 announcement concerns a separate project, the Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos remaster, which was scheduled for October 29, 2026. That upcoming sequel is not the Steam release discussed here. Argonaut’s press page carries the announcement.
