Cryptmaster is a single-player dungeon adventure built around an unusual control idea: you type or speak words to uncover abilities, answer riddles, and interact with the world. Steam’s user score is strongly positive, but that score is only one reception signal; it does not tell you whether the puzzles, combat, pacing, or humor will suit you.
What kind of game is Cryptmaster?
Cryptmaster is a single-player adventure, indie, and RPG that makes language part of its core interaction. Its official description says: “Fill in the blanks with text or voice to uncover lost abilities, embark on strange quests, and solve mindbending riddles.” Rather than relying only on conventional menus or action inputs, the game asks you to supply words as you explore and solve challenges.
Does Cryptmaster use typing, and can you use voice?
Both text and voice input are supported. Text input makes a keyboard a natural option on PC, but the official listing does not establish any specialized keyboard as necessary. Voice is also an available input method. The available information does not establish that one approach is more accurate or more enjoyable, so a review should identify which input method it used rather than assuming the experience is identical.
What do the reviews say?
Steam’s all-time user-review label was “Very Positive” when checked on October 8, 2026: 94% of 1,672 Steam user reviews were positive. That is a dated, changing storefront snapshot, not a critic-review aggregate or a direct measure of how well the game’s individual systems work.

For a useful assessment, look for coverage that explains whether the word puzzles remain engaging, how combat and other activities fit around them, and whether the game’s tone and humor work for the reviewer. The Steam score alone cannot answer those questions.
When and where did Cryptmaster launch?

Steam lists Cryptmaster as a digital game and offers a soundtrack and art book as digital add-on content; both are also included in a Deluxe Edition bundle. The cited listing does not establish that a physical edition exists.

It is worth considering if you want a single-player adventure where forming words is a central way to solve problems, and you are interested in switching between typed or spoken input. Before buying, check current availability, price, controls, and platform performance for the edition you plan to play: those details can vary and are not established here. If reading reviews, prioritize ones that describe their input method and discuss puzzle variety, combat, pacing, and humor rather than relying on a user-score headline alone.
