Keep the operating-system notes distinct: the game listing retains a Windows 7-or-later minimum, while Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024. A PC may satisfy the game’s older listed minimum but still be outside the Steam client’s stated support range.
Check graphics drivers and display features
A reply from an account labeled Massive_CM in a Steam community bug-report discussion suggests checking whether graphics drivers are outdated and disabling G-Sync. This is community troubleshooting advice, not a guarantee or a controlled finding.

- Check your graphics-card maker’s driver utility or support page for an available driver update. Use the driver intended for your specific graphics card and Windows version.
- If G-Sync is enabled, temporarily turn it off and try launching the game again. Restore the setting if it makes no difference.
Change one setting at a time and test the launch so you can tell whether a change affected the symptom.

- In Steam, open Library, right-click Cult of the Lamb, and select Properties.
- In the game’s Properties window, find Launch Options.
- Enter
-windowed -noborder, close the window, and launch the game. - If it does not help, remove the launch option and test again.
Verify the game files in Steam
A damaged or incomplete installation is one possibility, but the symptom alone does not establish that this is the cause. The developer-labeled community reply also suggests verifying the files.
- Open Steam Library, right-click Cult of the Lamb, and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files and select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to finish, then try launching the game again.
Reinstall only after the simpler checks
If the driver, display-setting, launch-option, and file-verification checks do not help, reinstalling is another option mentioned in the community reply. It changes the installation rather than a single setting, so try it after the easier checks. The available guidance does not establish that reinstalling will resolve every startup crash.

Steam’s listing names Devolver Digital as the support provider and gives [email protected]. You can also use the personalized assistance route on Steam Support.
Include your Windows version, basic PC specifications, what happens at launch, any error text, when the issue began, and the checks you tried. Another Steam community discussion reproduces developer-labeled instructions requesting a save file, MM.log, Player.log, and crash dumps, along with Windows file locations. Because that information is from a community discussion rather than a current standalone support article, check the publisher or developer’s current instructions before locating or sending files. Do not delete save data as a generic startup fix.
